Vehicle Detail
Up For Auction: One Nice Car! It is a Cream Puff, Original, Canary Yellow, 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with 71,278 Original Miles with absolutely no rust ! My Grandmother in 78’ purchased the car originally. It was always garage kept in Denver Colorado and NEVER driven in snow or rain. After putting 35k miles on it she quit driving and gave it to my retired Father. His intent was to use it to drive back and forth to the country club. Well, even with 35k miles on it, it did not quite meet the snooty standards of his elite club…The car had paint chips on the front from the Colorado road gravel. Gravel was used during the time, to add traction during the snow seasons instead of salt. And the gravel remained into the summer. Since he got the car for free he decided to invest, to make it immaculate, and make his statement. The car was Professionally re-painted in the original Cadillac Yellow and the soft top was replaced with an original OEM top as well. He wanted it all kept original. Inside He Replaced the headliner as apparently Grandma had stained it. The interior is next to perfect!! I would say 9 out of 10 at least. So the car shows spectacular, shinny and bright, when parked or going down the road. It has power everything, brakes, steering, windows, locks, antenna as well as working factory AM/FM radio. The engine is the 425 with the 400 transmissions. The Factory air was converted to R134a in 89’. The AC was working last fall but currently needs a charge. It has the original Caddy wheels and hubcaps with great all season, whitewall radials with new tread. A new exhaust system was put on it with a “Glass Pack” and it has a nice, not obnoxious, Throaty sound. I did put in a new heater core last fall. The engine compartment, trunk compartment and floorboards are all clean and rust free. Refer to the pictures for door jams as well for lack of rust. These cars in the late seventies are right now “Tweeners” , as in, they are old and classic, becoming more collectable with their value going up every year. The Details THE GOOD - 425 engine with 71,278 original miles - No rust anywhere! - Great paint - New headliner - New Factory floor matt’s - New heater core installed - Exceptional interior - Fires up easily and right away - Runs fabulous with lots of power - Shifts great - Stops on a dime - Newer exhaust system - All Electric power locks, windows, lights, dash switches working except stated below - Factory AM/FM radio and power antenna working - No Leaks There has been no drips of fluid on the garage floor of any kind since the heater core was replaced - Great shinny Chrome - Clear Title Here are the flaws of a great looking 33-year-old classic:(Please refer to detailed pictures) THE BAD Update 8/13 I traveled back to Denver to aid my alling parents. Mom fell and broke her hip this month and Dad can barley walk, much less drive. While in town for the weekend I recharged the AC system and found the climate control works and calls for cold air..The compressor kicks on and works as it should..I only charged with one can of 134a to 25 PSI and it called for 45 PSI for ambient temperature..Out of time I test drove the car and it indeed blew cool, not icy air..it needs further charging. New Problem... I parked the car in the garage, turned the key off and the blower fan for the AC / Heat stayed on. I parked it a week ago, came back to town and it fired right up It must be a wire clitch that needs to be chased. I had not the time to find it as I had to fly out early in the AM. I disconnected the battery before I had to leave..As Always, Full Discloser. It should be a simple fix and I wish I had the time to chase it.. - AC needs recharging - Dash clock not running (I think Dad disconnected it) - Some paint chips again from road gravel that have been touched up on the front of the car - Drivers seat belt will run down the battery when car is sitting if it is not completely retracted - Four symmetrical cracks in the dash at structural points of defrost vents and dash speakers (almost looks intended) - Small discoloration on top of soft top about the size of a baseball - One small depression in the passenger door seen only in the right light THE UGLY -There is a slight crease just behind the driver’s door that can be seen from the right angle and lighting with a small ding in the rear wheel trim . The chrome trim around the passenger rear wheel shows some dings That is it folks! The Caddie resides in Denver. It could easily be driven, without concern anywhere in the US. I have done as best as I can to fully detail everything about this car, good and bad, so as there are no surprises and everyone knows what they are truly bidding on. Even with its few imperfections this is a Super nice car. I am starting the bidding at $3,500 which the car is definitely worth with no reserve! I am selling my Dad’s car from out of state and will have to answer questions via phone and email. If you are in the Denver area I can set up an arrangement if you would care to inspect the car. I have also listed the car locally and reserve the right to end the auction early in the case of a local buyer. Payment A $500 Paypal deposit is required at the end of the auction. Full payment via cash, electronic transfer, or Paypal must be completed within 5 days. As soon as the funds are clear you are welcome to pick up this fine ride. If you are shipping the car I am happy to help with arrangements for pick up. Any Questions feel free to contact email or me at (815) 759-1880. I am out of the country 3 days a week so if I don’t answer please leave a message and a contact number. Thanks for looking folks and Happy Bidding! Cheers! Dan
