Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1973 Pontiac Firebird. I don't really know alot about it. I have only had it for a short time. I thought I could use a car to tinker with, but all it does is sit. Anyway I have some info on what the previous owner did to it. The car is factory 350, 350 turbo car. It now has a 1978 Pontiac 400 in it, with 350 turbo trans. The engine was rebuilt, using mostly standard parts, such as flat top pistons, bearings, gaskets, timing set, and a cam. I have no reciepts for any of the work, but I will say the car runs well, and doesn't knock, smoke, ect. I did pull a valve cover, and the valve springs, and such look like brand new. Oil pressure at idle is 70-80 cold, and when hot, 25-30. The carb is a 600 edelbrock. I had plans to ditch it and put on something that would work better, as the kickdown cable is not hooked up, and frankly I feel the carb is too small. The car also has headers, 3in x pipe, set of Pypes mufflers. The exhaust ends at the rear exle. I checked the rear end, and it is a 10 bolt, 3.42 posi. The transmission shifts fine, but it does drip a small amount from the pan gasket. The tires are dryrotted and just unsafe looking. The heater core and a/c compressor is not hooked up. Also has a new 4 core radiator. Plan to live close and drive this car home or bring a trailer. The cars body is actually pretty decent for what it is, but typical for a 38 year old, original paint car. The exterior is porcelian blue with a black vinyl roof and black interior. The roof has a dent from a tree branch. The lower front fenders are thin, but there. The door bottoms have some holes. The good part, is the rear quarters, trunk, rockers, floors, and tail panel, have little to no rust. There is one hole in the outer wheel house on the passenger side, the size a bit larger than a 50 cent piece, The lower rear quarter right behind the passenger side also a a touch of rot by the plug in the trunk drop off. Thats all I can find as bad spots. I believe that someone that knows what they are doing can fix these areas, with grafting in some new metal, and not replacing the whole piece. The car is dented in the rear tail panel too, but the metal is very thick, there is really no deep rust on the tail panel. I think that the most worst spots on these era of cars, are pretty good on this one. Especially for being a N.E. car. The interior is pretty good too. Pics show it. Headliner, is nice. Has power locks, rear defogger, power windows, that work. Dashboard clock, heater blower, and tape deck does not work. Drivers seat bottom has one seam that spit, but the other seats are nice. All other gauges work. Also all the interior and exterior lights work. Consider this car a project car. It has a clear title, and mileage is actual. It has potential, but its still an old car. It does run and drive. Once restored, it will be a nice ride. Or clone it into a Trans am. This is sold as is, with no warranty. I have the right to end the auction early if needed. The car will be sold at no reserve.
