Vehicle Detail
Bike history: I obtained this Honda trail 90 in Nov. 2004 as a non-running, rusty, dilapitated, very poor overall condition project bike. The previous owners had stored the bike outside in Colorado for years with the intentions to get it running- never happened. The original speedometer read 1276 miles but was sun damaged beyond repair. A clear Colorado title was obtained in July, 2006 and the bike was licensed, insured, and street legal after all the work was completed and driven less than 10 miles to check it's rideability. This Honda was built and displayed for the sole purpose as a steetable example for my motorcycle restoration business and has been dry stored inside since 2007 when i relocated to Arizona. Work Performed: Body/Paint: swing arm, luggage rack, battery box, center stand, and chain guard sandblasted and powdercoated Satin black. Fork ears, front fender/brackets, frame, gas tank stripped, body work smoothed to perfection, sprayed in 2000 Chevy truck "Meadow Green Metallic" paint by Joe "the painter" Aragon, a professional motorcycle painter and a true craftsman working out of Pueblo West, Colorado. Headlamp bucket, down tube cover, and air box assembly painted in Duplicolor Silver. Engine: required new points, condenser, plug, rebuilt carb, and valve adjustment. A near perfect set of 1975 engine side cases/covers were installed with new gaskets and seals, engine was throughly checked out mechanically , nicely detailed, and runs good with no leaks or issues. Carb was jetted for 6000' and may need to be rejetted for your elevation. Later model larger air box added for increased air flow. Exhaust: rust free muffler stripped and painted with high temp black paint. Later model heat shield installed after cleaning and polishing. Tires/Wheels; new oversize IRC (3.00x17) street tires installed with new tubes and rim strips. Used rims, cleaned and polished spokes, were used on original hubs, new Honda brake shoes, new bearings and seals completed the work done. Suspension: complete front end from a 1970 Trail 90 was purchased thru Ebay. It was disassembled, lower tubes polished, new fork seals and oil, new Honda Black rubber "gators" installed. Top triple clamp from 1978 trail 90 which allows handle bar position to be moved was polished and buffed and replaces original stamped unit. Rear suspension includes polished top shock mounts and new full size, aftermarket shocks and springs which allow 2 people to ride safely. New chain installed. Electrical: aftermarket solid state rectifier purchased, several used Ebay wiring harnesses combined to complete a nice original working harness. All switches were cleaned or replaced, all new bulbs installed, and everything worked properly the last time the bike was started. Later model head light/instrument cluster was added. Misc.: Driver's seat foam replaced and custom covered in a nice soft pliable vinyl, doubled stitshed seat cover.. Matching passenger seat pad custom built to match front unit. Mirrors, hand grips, front and rear foot peg rubber, rubber body plugs, grommets, bushings, washer's are all new Honda Parts. Most of the cables were no longer available (NLA) from Honda so used cables were slowly procured from Ebay, cleaned and refurbished and work fine. Thanks for looking at my posting and good luck bidding. Tom
