Vehicle Detail

1965 Mustang Convertible Project Opportunity A Code 289 4 BBL Automatic For Sale 1965 Mustang A Code 289 4 BBL with Automatic Transmission with Console and Power Convertible Top. The exterior color is Ivy Green with Newer Beige Pony Upholstery and NEWER White Top. The motor was recently rebuilt but we have no receipt to show what was completed but the engines starts up and runs out nicely with no noises or smoke. The C4 transmission shifts fine as well. The Mustang has four newer Pirelli tires on nice Style Steel Wheels and fairly new dual exhaust system. The Mustang is dressed out in GT options but was not a factory installed GT car. The Fog Light set and rear valance exhaust are installed on the car. This is the story on this Mustang. I bought the car two months ago off eBay from a dealer who advertised the car as very nice driving Mustang Convertible with no rust. He did say the paint on the car was not good. After seeing the pictures I bought the Mustang with the intentions of striping the car down and repainting it and having a very nice car to drive and show. After receiving the car and putting it on a lift I have discovered that the actual work that was performed was sub standard. What was installed on the Mustang is new quarters (2) and trunk drops (2), inner rockers (2), torque boxes (2) and a full floor pan (not two separate pieces but full floor). The problem is the work was done by an amateur and I believe it is not not good enough to drive the car on the road. What I have found is that the inner rockers were ¼ inches too low in the rear which will not allow for good body panel and door alignment. It appears to me that the car's body needs to be aligned and placed in a firm and rigid position where the old welds can be removed so that the inner rockers can be rewelded correctly. This sound like a major task but because the amateur welder used so few welds the task is substantially reduced in difficulty. So bottom line is you are getting: new metal parts: rockers (2) full floors, torque boxes(2) quarters panels and drops (2)What the car needs is a professional welder to do the job correctly, and that is not me. This is a worth while Project Mustang that deserves to be riding the glorious highway again.
