Vehicle Detail
Here we go one more try, I have lowered the reserve substantially from the first listing, someone is going to get a super deal on one rare, clean Jeep! This is a Jeep you don't see everyday, a factory original 1980 CJ5 Golden Hawk, not to be confused with a Golden Eagle. This is a very rare vehicle indeed, it is a one year only Jeep and I have read that only 800 were ever produced. This is the real deal, not a fake. You can't fake a Golden Hawk like the Golden eagle since they don't reproduce the Golden Hawk decal, the golden eagles on the other hand you can buy reproduction decals. This is everything a Golden Eagle is, but with a different decal kit. Golden Hawks came loaded with options from the factory, this jeep includes the clock, tach, power steering, power disc brakes, sport steering wheel, high back seats, tilt wheel, CB radio, 304 V8 and more. This a remarkable Jeep with 66,890 documented original miles, I have several vehicle state inspections with the year and mileage printed that corresponds and supports the current mileage. This jeep was well cared for and has all original paint, it has been religiously garaged since new and has never sat out. The paint is incredible especially for its age and being black, it literally shines like new and there is absolutely no fading, aging, or oxidation which can be attested to being garaged its whole life. There are some minor scratches here and there, but not many and nothing big enough to even mention, the paint is truly in exceptional condition. The body is super straight and remarkably dent free. The fenders are perfect. There is some checking on the silver areas and some small areas are missing as seen from the picture. There is a site dedicated to Golden Hawks, www.goldenhawkjeep.com that tells their story. On this site, out of eleven featured CJ Golden Hawks only a few have original 304 V8s. Therefore this Jeep is relatively rare with being an original V8 whereas the rest were 6 cylinders. There is an interesting posting on youtube, www.youtube.com/watch?v=mriFzEyZoEw here you will see a golden hawk that is identical to mine, I believe this is in Puerto Rico. It will make you want to cry watching them abuse such a nice jeep, but you can see how unique a black Golden Hawk looks. I believe black is on the rare side of colors, I know that black Golden Eagles are highly sought after. This Jeep is truly a one of a kind, it drives like a new vehicle, very tight down the road and everything works and I mean EVERYTHING. This has the rare CB radio set up and from what I have learned over the years, is that it is rare to have the original CB antenna of which this jeep still retains. All the CB functions work including the call out. Every single light and its function works perfectly including the parking brake warning, 4wd, side markers, head lights, turn signals, courtesy, dash, reverse, emergency, gauges, under hood lamp (bulb was removed temporarily) etc. The original analog clock and tach work perfectly. This Jeep is completely original and stock except for one very acceptable modification, it has been converted over to fuel injection. The previous owner got fed up with the carburetor set up and converted it over. There was no expense spared on the conversion and something like $1500 was spent. It truly runs like a top now with more power and never has starting issues. The interior is in excellent condition, like new. The dash is perfect with no fading, cracks or dry rot, the seats likewise have no cracks, cuts or fading and are in excellent condition. There is an interesting fact to know about the 1980 Jeep CJs, this was the first year where you could get a t176 4 speed transmission with a 304 V8, also first year for the Dana 300. High back seats were introduced as well in 1980. 1981 was the last year for the 304, so there are only 2 years were. This combination is great since a T176 is like a passenger car transmission being that it has a synchronized first gear unlike a granny first in a T18. It is an absolute pleasure to drive this Jeep having a 4 speed and V8. The transmission shifts perfectly, where a lot of T176s are prone to shifter problems. The engine has a lot of oil pressure and sounds perfect. As I mentioned before this is an original V8 jeep and can be verified through the VIN #, the H code designates V8. All original VIN tags and VIN stickers are still intact as can be seen in the pictures. The icing on the cake would be that this jeep is 100% rust free, this is a dry Idaho Jeep and has never been taken out in the snow or weather. I've crawled all over this jeep and I can't rust anywhere. There is no rust top or bottom of the floors or even any surface rust anywhere on the jeep, that includes no rust between the the body panel seams where the spot welds are. The jeep still retains much of the factory sound deadening. The body is %100 all original and has never seen an accident or fender-bender of any kind. Also it has never had any body repair/replacement panels. Therefore there is zero bondo, how nice is that... Also it has 5 brand new Goodyear Wranglers. This jeep wreaks originality everywhere and retains all the original hardware including stuff like the shift knobs, hood latches, fender flares and even the floor mats. I have the original key, service and owners manuals. All major service has been performed on the jeep including all new fluids: engine, transmission, axles, transfercase and radiator. All new brakes including new calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors, pads and shoes. Incredibly there are no leaks, not even a drop anywhere, this jeep is a true turn key ready to enjoy! To sum it up this is a very rare bird and you wont find another Golden Hawk in this condition. This Jeep is a true survivor. Thanks For Looking!
