I am selling this one owner, 48K original miles Westphalia Vanagon GL for the estate of the original owner who was a friend of mine. He bought this car new at Valley Motors, Inc. in Hunt Valley, MD. The miles are documented by service records. The last record was in 2005 when the new muffler and brake pads were installed. The mileage then was 47,896. I just installed a new battery and had the car detailed. A new windshield was installed on 6/20/11 and included a new seal and chrome trim. The documentation includes the original receipt which shows the cost to be $21,889.95 but he paid $20,223.91 after discount for paying cash. Options included metallic paint, A/C, power mirrors, paint sealant and fabric guard. The water cooled 2.1 liter runs and drives fine but needs to be driven and may need a little tweaking, ie. brake adjustment and minor tuning as it has not been driven much at all in the past 3 years. It starts on the first crank every time. As nice as this vehicle is it does have a few flaws: It has (3) rust spots: panel seam on the left rear quarter, small spot on the left side at the bottom of the windshield and small hole at the bottom of the right rear window. It needs one hub cap ($25), it's missing the front table ($50), missing the passenger side mud flap ($25), needs a new front license plate bracket ($10) and the upholstery on the sliding door got torn just the other day ($100). I estimate the rust repair at a cost of $600 - $800 tops. It has Continental tires on it that have about 1/2 tread. Ta here is some minor discoloration on a few pieces of interior trim that may clean up. Other than the minor rust previously mentioned the body is excellent with no dents and only two very minor dings. All of the camping equipment appears to be in great condition. The A/C needs to be re-charged (refrigerant included with sale). This Westie has rear A/C as well. The seats are in great condition. All of the shades appear to be in great condition. The tent fabric is in good condition but has a few minor holes that can easily be patched. One owner low mileage Westfalia campers like this don't come along every day. Register it as an antique and get some classic car insurance and enjoy this camper for years to come.
