Vehicle Detail
Engine/Tranny: Original, 8AB flathead 8. This engine runs smooth and has plenty of power. It was rebuilt but im not 100% sure when. It doesn’t leak a lot of oil or smoke or knock. It has a single, 94 carb. The tranny is a 3 speed manual with the floor shifter. It shifts very well and isn’t sloppy. The clutch is smooth. The rear-end isn’t original. It’s a later model rear end that seems to be geared pretty decent. I have replaced the crab style distributor, cap, spark plugs and wires. It has 2 brand new water pumps installed and two new thermostats, solenoid and recent battery. She has new hoses and a rooster booster electronic ignition. She comes with a spare re-buildable carburetor and complete distributor that’s in good working order. The fuel tank has been removed, cleaned, etched and epoxy lined, the sending unit has been replaced and I have installed an electronic fuel pump (but have not tied it in yet). Body/Interior: The body and bed are super solid. It has an older, enamel paint job that’s not perfect buy shines up nice and seems to have protected the metal real well. There is almost no rust at all in the body or bed. There’s none in the door jams, cab corners, running boards or bed sides. There’s only a small amount in the bottom of the front fenders (see pics). The floor has a thin spot on the passenger side but the rest is very solid and would clean up well and would be a simple fix. The bed has an all steel insert that was put in long ago and it’s got some rust out in the corners. It works well though and I haul cattle feed in the bed without a problem. The glass is in good condition and the windows go up and down perfectly. It needs a new glove box and the glove box door needs a new keeper and spring. The dash is nice as are the door panels, edges and jambs. The floor has a new rubber mat with padding. The body trim is all there and is in great shape as is the grille with all of its bars. All could be re-chromed but look ok as is. The front bumper is nice and the rear is a homemade deal with a two inch ball. It’s heavy duty and works well. The tailgate is very nice, not dented up and the chains and latches work well. The door handles work smooth and the doors shut like new. Chassis: Solid as a rock frame and cross members. No rust. It needs front shocks. I just completely rebuilt the front end with new tie rod ends and new kingpins. I installed a brand new manual steering box so she drive straight and does not search. Brakes/Wheels/Tires: The brake system is 100% front to back! New everything! New lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes etc. All new! They work great. The wheels are 15 inch steel wheels with the beauty rings and caps. They look great with the whitewall tires. The tires are a bit wore but have some life left in them. As is the side mount spare. Electrical: 6 volt, positive ground with a newer battery, new solenoid and regulator. I have re-wired her front to back with correct wiring harness. Again…All new. There are 2 new chrome blue dot brake lights in the back (not shown in the pics) and 2 new parking lights in the front. No turn signals or cab lights. The heater has been completely rebuilt and the blower motor is brand new. The core has been blown out and sealed and the body of the heater has been repainted. I have new duct work but it is not installed. The wipers have been converted to electric with new motors and wiring. She has the original push button start. All switches have been replaced with OEM parts. The horn is complete and working. I have not hooked all the wiring back up since I replaced the steering box and column. Included in the sale are many spare parts, new correct mirrors and misc. manuals for the truck. All in all she is a very nice and solid truck. I used her quite a bit on the ranch. I would get complements like “if I had that truck and you had a feather up your butt we would both be tickled” ….and “the only thing that would get more attention than that truck is a necked woman” and so on….She cleans up well and you can enjoy her now. She needs someone who knows how to work on flatheads…I lack in that area. I have been fighting an electrical issue in the distributor and am stumped on how to fix. She runs…but not well…acts like she needs a tune up…everything is new but there is an electrical adjustment out of wack that I cannot track down……so that’s the bad. Please ask questions and look at the pics. I will be adding more and will send you a pic of whatever you want. I’m not trying to hide anything and want the new owner to be happy with her with no surprises. Use your brain though!! She is a 66 year old truck! On Aug-12-11 at 05:24:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Again....please note.......she is running but acts like there is an electrical issue (maybe plug wires grounding out) im not sure.....I started her and pulled her onto a trailer in anticipation of hauling her to a truck terminal for delivery to the new owner. Its calving season and i do not have time to run this particular problem down. She is a good solid truck and has been of good service to me.....but there has always been something minor to chase down and mess with......she is 66 years old.
