Hello British Car Enthusiasts!!! (ALSO KNOWN AS MASOCHISTS!!) :) First- the uncertain history of this car: It is my understanding that the car was the property of one man from it's initial purchase and he used it as a daily driver for many years before it came into the possession of my brother-in-law (the semi-professional who then fixed the car up for me) by trade. I have no proof of it's history before it came to me. I thought the car was cute. I mean-- you can't really argue-- it is cute. But it is not for me-- and here is why: The engine and paint on the car was all redone in 2009. The entire frame was treated with rust preventative. The work done on the car was only semi-professional and has flaws (some drips in the paint, some places are now beginning to pucker--and the ENGINE was not altogether correct and has had many many dollars in professional repairs performed on it since that time). These include: new battery, brake pads and rotors, carburetor, one new wheel assembly, master cylinder, transmission replacement, ignition wires, electronic ignition, spark plugs, distributor caps and rotor, alternator and brackets, transmission mounts, speedometer head, thermostat, and various and assundry oils and belts and nuts and bolts. I have only a vague idea of what most of that stuff is-- I just listed it off my repair sheets. You could sell me a unicorn hair oil filter and I would never know you were lying. I have spent a total of $7,276.38 in repairs on the car, after the $4,300 I paid for it in the first place. I will be happy to show you documentation of these repairs- and if you do the math you will notice my reserve is not even as high as the money I have spent on repairs alone. I am not trying to get my money back out of this car, I just need it off my hands and into the hands of a better equipped individual. The car is a 4 speed straight 6 with 50% overdrive, independent suspension, dual carbs, no power steering or air. She does 70 to 75 easily, but is so loud! I never felt the need to press her past that point. At the moment she is a very pretty 20 footer. Closer than that and you begin to see dings and imperfections, but the body is sound with no holes or major rust. The engine runs well-- amazingly. There have been some electrical problems, resulting in the removal of the cd player I had installed in the vehicle and most recently the tail lights have gone out. Whether this is an electrical or bulb problem, I did not care to find out as I had plans to sell the car when I discovered it. The car leaks water around the bottom corners of the front windshield and in the center bottom of the back window. It has been kept under cover since I stopped driving it, but there were some instances where water got inside the car when I was still driving it. The upholstery was redone in 09 but is chewed up a bit by the seat- where it hinges to lay forward. The ceiling has a dirty spot from my mechanics oily head. There are places where my "awesome" brother in law came up a bit short on his skills. The floor lining is not very pro (coming loose in some spots), and it seems he used felt around the gear shift and e-brake. There are places where it is not covered completely. My switch for my overdrive broke, but there is still a switch-- it's just shorter than before. The knob on the gear shift doesn't fit exactly and if not tightened periodically will shimmy loose. There are a pair of very nice speakers installed in the car if the radio unit was replaced. The knock off wheels are original but have been repainted to cover rust. There is some rubber lining above the front windshield that is loose on one side. The car is being sold as-is, as I have no knowledge of any problems other than those I have mentioned. I will be happy to ship the car anywhere, but shipping cost will be the responsibility of the buyer. The fun of this car is it's always a work in progress-- no one (except me) gets into these cars to just go buy a completely finished product. However-- the major stuff is done and over with. For the purchaser of this car-- you have only to add your own flair visually and tinker with minor problems in the engine. You could get in this girl and zip around town right now-- which is less true of many Triumph's you'll encounter. As I said-- my knowledge is limited-- but please feel free to contact me with any questions and I will answer them to the very best of my ability. Happy Bidding and Good Luck!
