Vehicle Detail

1940 Ford standard coupe, original running gear car, garage storage under car cover for the last 26 years, in the 1950s had hot rod stuff like flames, 15 inch wheels, turn signals, fender skirts, 1939 Ford deluxe grill, deluxe glove box lid with clock, stainless mirror, peep mirror, and smoothing the fenders to the body, car has original Ford script glass, dash is way above average, 61,116 miles, original 1940 Ford radio with dealer installed antenna, original shocks, South Wind gasoline heater, when I got the car out of storage I put in a battery, new fuel pump, new oil and filter, cleaned the starter, hot wired a key switch, and ran new fuel line to a can of gas, the car cranked, started and idled after all those years in storage, no smoke at all out of the engine, still has the 1940 Ford script brown coil and distributor caps, lower engine shield is still on the drivers side, I don’t think the engine has ever been out of the car, ignition key switch is broken, radiator is original and looks very good, lower radiator hose are bad, even the battery started charging, does have some brake on the rear wheels only, I drove it around the yard one time, transmission shifts and no noise from the rear end, after that ride the clutch started to stiffen up and now the clutch will not release enough to put the car in gear while it is running, rust on the fly wheel more than likely, most of the lights work, horns blow, battery fuel, and temperature gauge work, owner’s manual, original cracked trunk mat, trunk lid supports even hold up the trunk lid, wooden trunk tool box lids, as the pictures show car needs front floor sections, transmission cover, lower quarter patch panels behind doors, patch work on the upper quarters where the fenders bolt to the quarters, some nickel size holes in the tool box area, the passenger side inner fender is bad under the battery, the fenders, hood, deck lid, drip rails, top, cowl area, frame, and doors appear to be solid, the trunk mat is stuck to the trunk floor but the trunk floor looks solid enough to save from under the car, windows all row up and down, the seat back does come up and lock like it was designed to, I have more pictures if needed, Kentucky title in my name, miles on the title are 6,116, good car to restore to original condition or to rod, car is in London Kentucky located on I-75 in eastern KY, car will be paid for with cash in person at pick up or with bank transfer of funds to my bank within 3 days after the auction ends, I will store the car for up to 21 days after payment is received and will work with a shipper if the car is shipped, this 71 year old car is sold as is with no warranty, if you have questions send me an email, if you want to come and make an offer on the car I’m open to that also, I’m retired and can show the car about any time, I have vast experience with 1940 Fords over the years.
