Vehicle Detail
1968 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE: -Exterior: Sea Foam Green (Looks light blue at night, light green in the day) -Interior: Black vinyl interior with white headliner (great shape) -Originally from California until I bought it in 2002. Shipped by train to Chicago. -Garage kept -New repairs 6/22/11 (receipt copy available upon request): 4 new spark plugs and engine tune up, Gas tank cleaned out, Flip switch and push button ignition, 4 new Nexxen tires (mounted and balanced), New battery, New fuel filter -Single Disc Sony detachable face cd player with 6x9 speaker box -New rear bumper -Original owner's manual (fair condition) -2 extra headlights, 2 extra turn signal lights, and extra fuses -Appraised for $6700 in 2003 (can provide image of appraisal upon request. it should be noted that appraisal is not dated and was through Mr. Volkswagen - a small then Chicago-based company. it was appraised for insurance purposes only): completely restored, inside and out when I purchased in 2002, ppg single stage acrylic enamel, new deluxe vinyl interior - seats, door panels, headliner, upgraded electrical system, including 4-speaker cd stereo, new (again when I purchased in 2002) semi-custom 1641 cc engine , OEM German replacement rubber seals (where available), chrome Magnel wheels (these are the details from the 2003 appraisal) -Original flyer 2002 details available (not sure what is still applicable however as various repairs have been made over the years) referencing: German powder coated tins, 40X35 stainless steel valves, Engle 110 cam, Balanced Counterweighted Crank, Dog House oil cooler, CINA Mahle Pistons and Lifters, Solid Rocker shafts, Dual Baby Weber 34 carburetors, Remote oil filter (again, these are the details from the 2002 flyer) -When purchased in 2002, it had 1200 miles on it. I am not sure how many miles I have put on it as the odometer is not working (see below). However, I would guestimate I put approximately 6,000 to 8,000 miles on it per year from 2002 to 2005. After 2005, the VW was kept in a garage and only used occasionally. Needs: -Will need a brake job in the near feature -passenger side door needs to be shut hard to close -some rust on chrome and drip guard (minor) -odometer and speedometer don't work -there is a dent in the rear driver side fender (see pictures) Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping and all associated charges. Feel free to contact me with ANY questions and I will do my best to answer them.
