Vehicle Detail
I bought this truck in October of 2006. I replaced the clutch and the heater core and drove it dailey for 3 years. It was showing 87000 when I bought it and now shows a little over 5000. I added the tonneau cover to keep the elements off the fresh oak bed. All lights and gauges work, and runs well on unleaded. It is very dependable even in our long and tough Illinois winters. I since have moved quite a way from work and have decided to retire her to antique vehicle plates or sell if the price is right. I bought this truck from a consignment dealer in Indiana and have been more than satisfied with its performance and longevity. According to the seller the engine had been redone not long before I bought it. This truck still has the original straight axel, so the frame has never been butchered, it also still has the foot start as you see in the photos. All glass is in good shape. The wipers work well. The tires are in good shape and have many years left on them. The body is showing signs of an older restoration as the pictures show. She will need some front quarters and paint as time goes by. The inside running boards are going to need replaced also with time. I put a Blaupunkt CD player, big amp under the seat and speakers behind the seat. I had a 15 inch sub behind the seat but it would not let the seat go back all the way so I replaced with a smaller set of speakers. Still sounds good!! These trucks only had oil filters as an option, which this one did not have, so I bought one but never got the lines run. I put it on the manifold so you guys and girls could see that it goes with the truck. The picture of the gas spout shows where I filled the tank too full before work and it sat in 100 degree heat for 8 hours, expanded and bubbled the paint. It does not have the original or even the right make radiator in it, but has never overheated on me. I have a 1953 5 window I redid, and ended up putting in air conditioning as a afterthought. So I have a new radiator, not for air, that should fit right in this 59. The bumpers also need a new coat of paint. If your looking to buy a vintage vehicle, not break the bank, and cruise without having to turn a wrench, this is for you.
