Vehicle Detail

1946 Dodge 1.5 Ton Truck. Model WFA32. S/N 81389186. Showing 53537 miles. No title and sold with a Bill-of-Sale only. Four speed transmission with two speed axle. Six cylinder Chrysler Spitfire engine. This engine is a replacement for the stock Dodge 85 hp unit. I think the Spitfire engines came from the factory installed only in Chrysler cars and not in Dodge vehicles. The Spitfire engines were of different displacements and horsepower ratings and I am not sure which this is...I do know the Spitfires were made up to 265 cubic inches with up to 119 hp. Cylinder head casting number is 1313826-2 and it has Spitfire cast into it surrounded by lightning bolts. Really a neat old engine and I guess at one time they were much in demand for performance applications. The engine last ran a year or so ago and ran well. It is very complete and I see no reason why it won't fire up with a fresh battery, fresh gas and a good carb cleaning. About the truck...body appears to be virtually rust free...cab floors look bad, but I don't think they are...pieces of sheetmetal were scabbed in but not to cover up rust but to patch up the wooden floor panel. Cab corners, running boards, front bumper and most of the grill very nice. A couple of dings in the stainless grill but maybe that can be straightened. Fenders and cab have dents and wrinkles as shown in the photos but nothing that can't be repaired. Interior of cab has a headliner, door panels and seat cover made from some weird and gross looking velveteen material and needs to go in the worst way! Has grain bed and hoist. Bed is all steel and is rusty but serviceable. Rear tires are 8.25x20s and front tires 7.50x20s...all tires are up but are old and weather cracked. Brakes not working. Believe it has the old split wheels know as Widow Makers and they should be updated as they are considered to be dangerous to work on and few tire shops want anything to do with them. Where this little truck could really shine would be to retain the classic Chrysler Spitfire engine and round up some period speed equipment such as dual carbs, split exhaust manifold, etc. Install polished aluminum wheels...think viper red paint with black fenders and a western hauler bed. I would really like to do this truck myself, but have to many other projects ...so someone else can step up and take this interesting project off my hands. Truck is for sale elsewhere and I reserve the right to end the sale early. Truck sold as is/where is. Payment in full due within 7 days. Truck to be picked up within 30 days. I will only accept $100 via paypal, and balance by certified check or bank wire. And finally...if you have zero or poor feedback I reserve the right to cancel your bids.
