PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PLACING BIDS OR ASKING QUESTIONS TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION.HEY THANX... MOTOGROTTO...THE BMW BOXER AIRHEAD RESTORATION STATION...SPECIALIZING IN PEACE OF MIND AND PURE MOTORCYCLING SATISFACTION 610-749-0747 EASTON PA 18040. MEDIOCRITY IS NOT AN OPTION. Here is one sweet 73 R75/5 Long Wheel Base Toaster with only 4,791 miles on it.A friend of mine acquired it from the original owner's son in law.It is mostly original with new mufflers and battery.Everything works and the bike runs great smooth and fast.I have put a few hundred miles on it.It is a matching numbers bike with good tires ready to ride all electrics function properly. The petcocks appear to be /2 style which looks similar to the originals and work but should be replaced with new ones. The inside of the tank is excellent. 54 Plymouth is for display purposes only and not included. There are a few small chips and touch ups here and there but the paint is very nice...It's only original once and the grips that came on the bike when new are still on it and have a few cracks to prove it.The side tang on the centerstand has broke off like most do when some caveman tries to reinvent it.This is the more desirable long wheelbase version which came out just before the /6 line was introduced.BMW added some length to the rear swingarm which made the bike more stable at high speeds.Very few long wheelbase toasters out there let alone a shiny black one with low miles as this making it very desirable. Both mirrors are on the bike now. There is no toolkit. This bike is not perfect, just awesome. Here is an original ad from 1973 for this bike that will go with the bike at the sale. Here are some of my bikes that have appeared in MOTORCYCLE CLASSICS.http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay/bmw-r90s-custom.aspxhttp://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay/1960bmwr602.aspxhttp://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay/1975motoguzzi850t.aspxhttp://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay/bmw-r60-2.aspxhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280707261344&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT THAT'S HOW I ROLL...MOTOGROTTO...Where it's at! Sorry, no joyrides! This professional spokesperson shall explain why... Let's face it,my customers really don't want some inexperienced yahoo thrashing around on the bike while they are bidding on it now do they??? Here's some music by a band called The Toasters. Here is an email from an ebay member about Gordon Lindner who is featured in this ad. Greetings, The gentlemen standing (Gordon Lindner) was as tough as he looked. Gordon, well up in age, was riding his BMW on Rt123 in New Canaan one day. As he passed by the New Cannan country club, he caught an errantly driven golf ball on the chin (no full face helmet here). NEVER DROPPED THE BIKE- kept driving! Gordon passed away years ago and the shop finally closed it's doors forever. Too bad, it was a great place. I grew up around these bikes, purchased my first BMW from them... The photo was taken in front of Ridgefield European Motors (BMW cars) on Rt7 in Ridgefield, CT. Best luck & fortune to you... Here is the text from the ad which is quoted from Gordon Lindner. "My name is Lindner. That's me standing there behind that BMW 750.I've been a master motorcycle mechanic for 32 years. You can't name the make I haven't been up to my armpits in,one time or another.Learned to ride on a one-lung Indian when I was just out of short pants, and the first bike I ever stripped was a 1921 English J.A.P. Today,I'll repair any motorcycle built.I said repair-not sell. There's only one bike I'll sell, and that's BMW. How come?Because I know one hell of a lot about motorcycles, that's how come.If somebody brings any kind of bike into my shop with a blown piston or a busted chain or a chewed-up clutch, okay,I'll fix it fast and right and I won't charge a nickel more for parts and labor than the job's worth. But if a guy wants to buy a machine, wants to lay down his hard-earned bread and looks me in the eyes and says what's the best bike going, then I'm going to tell him straight. BMW.Because when it comes down to quality, when it comes down to what motorcycle is going to just run and run and give you the most fun to ride without a lot of tinkering and without eating holes in your pocket, why man,BMW is so far front you can't even see number 2. You take a look at the way a BMW is put together.Or the temper of the steel.Or the fifnish. And you know something?A BMW is finished just as good inside as out.In fact, better. Now you tell me what other bike you can say that about. Trouble is,too many studs today think if a bike makes a lot of noise and it's plastered with chrome,it's a good motorcycle.Horse-feathers,and I don't mean feathers. BMW,on the other hand is a whole different idea. It's so quiet and smooth you can hardly believe it.But when you roll open that throttle it's like you're straddling a bullet. That's real performance, not just a lot of gut-shaking blat. You see, there isn't any better way in the world to power 2 wheeled machinery than BMW's flat twin.Gives you better balance, runs cooler, lasts longer. And the drive-train?Unlike an ordinary bike,a BMW has a shaft.Turns clean and silent, completely sealed in an oil bath.No chain to keep your clothes greased and then bust when you're 120 miles west of nowhere. Or you take weight.Pretty obvious that too much of it is a drag on performance.Well,a BMW 750 is lighter than any other comparable machine. No wonder a BMW handles better. I guess by now you know a little about how I feel about BMW.You want to hear more, come into my shop in New Canaan,Connecticut.Or for that matter, visit any BMW dealer. They're the best in the business. If you do buy a BMW,I know there's one thing we won't be seeing much of you for and that's repairs.Like I say, with a BMW,it's no sweat."
