Vehicle Detail

This is a beautiful 1970 Dodge Charger 500. According to the original owner the car has only 65,000 original miles on it. It is originally a Georgia car and has been in Georgia all its life up until I bought it a few months ago. I am the third owner of this car. The second owner bought it from the original owner about 4 years ago. I have two build sheets and the original receipt from when the original owner purchased it in 1970! I also have the original owners manual. The car is completely original and complete as far as I can tell (except for the hemi orange paint job). All the interior parts are there in great shape, all chrome trim is there, original tires/hubcaps, and I even have the original jack in the trunk! THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, ELECTRICAL, EXHAUST- It has the original 318 engine. I drove it 5.5 hours back from Georgia to Bristol TN without one single problem! I had it up to 80 mph several times on the interstate coming back to Bristol and it ran perfect and smooth. The transmission shifts perfectly and smooth. In fact I just changed the transmission fluid and filter a few weeks ago and it was clean as a whistle inside! The car originally had a two-barrel carb but I just put on an aluminum intake and Edelbrock 600 cfm 4-barrel on it. I still have the original intake and carb if you wish to restore it to it's original set up. It has a new water pump, new DIXIE HORN, new power steering pump, new alternator, new fuel pump, new oil pump, new gas tank, new gas line, new trunk pan, new voltage regulator, new coil, new plugs and wires, new gauge cluster circuit board, and a new chrome air breather. I also installed an electronic ignition conversion kit with new distributor. I just installed new white face gauge decals. All the gauges work as well as the turn signals. The headlights do work but the headlight motor relay has gone bad so the hide-away headlight covers stay up unless you disconnect them. A new relay is about $70. An easy fix. I removed all the A/C stuff since it was not working but it will go with the car just in case you decide to reinstall it. The heater doesn't seem to work but it may just need a heater core. It has power steering but not power brakes. The brakes work fine and brakes smoothly. Right now the car sports the hard to find "Dukes Of Hazzard" American Racing vector rims but I also have the original rims and hub caps too! The tires are also practically new. The car runs and drives great. I drive it at least three times a week to work and a lot on weekends. It has dual exhaust with some old glass packs that sound awesome! INTERIOR- I have removed most of the interior trim/parts and restored them already. I have re-painted and restored the console and it looks great. I removed the old carpet. But I have brand new black carpet for it. It will need a new headliner. The front passenger's seat bottom needs reupholstering but the drivers side is in good shape with a little splitting in the seat area. I have seat covers over them right now. The back seat and the upper arm rests (front and back) are in near perfect condition! The door panels are in decent shape but you will need new arm rests as they are pretty worn. The dash pad is excellent with no cracks. The interior is all there and complete. BODY- There's not a lot of rust on this car. The frames are solid. There are a couple of places there are shown in the photos below. The trunk lid and hood look to be rust free and in perfect condition. The worst rust area is on the drivers side trunk channel (see pic). Which really isn't that bad. I put silicone in the holes to keep water from leaking into the trunk. The car had a black vinyl top when I got it (see pic) but it had some bubbles underneath by the front windshield. I removed the vinyl top and wire brushed it down to the bare metal and sprayed it with orange paint to keep it from rusting. You can see the holes left by the rust. Not too bad. Some small metal patch work would fix these easily. The back window corners looks to have had some fiberglass work done years ago in the bottom corners of the back window. Chargers typically rust out here. The repaired areas are relatively small and should be fairly easy to replace with a proper metal repair. Not bad at all. I have seen and repaired a lot worse! The passengers side front fender does have a minor dent (see pic). The floor pans are solid all around except for a few small holes in the front passenger's side and a couple of pin holes in the drivers side. Overall the body is in really good shape and very straight. The paint job appears to be maybe 10 years old. It has some scratches here and there but it still looks great (especially on the road!). The bumpers are in great shape and the grill is near perfect! It would not take much to get this car in excellent shape. Title is free and clear and in my name. Complete original chargers are getting hard to find so don't let this one get away. You could drive this car any where. I am asking $12,500 or best offer. You can see more pics and a video here: http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e173/renoman22/1970%20dodge%20charger/ You are welcome to come look at it if you are in the Bristol TN area.
