Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for auction is a very cool 1987 Buick Riviera with a few rare options for the year including a carriage top and continental kit. This is a very cool looking car and I think someone would be really happy with it. I have digitally modified the pictures to circle the cars imperfections in red. If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask. Good 1. To my knowledge, almost all of the features on the car work including windows, seats, heating and air conditioning (although not sure if it blows as cold as it once did, but it does feel cool), cruise, wipers, etc. Also, the touch screen computer and digital dash all work well. The car’s diagnostic system shows no errors or problems being detected by the vehicle. (see video) 2. Starts good, drives nice, shifts smooth 3. Looks really cool 4. Has some amazing features for a 24 year old car like a touch screen computer 5. No rust on the main body that I see (continental kit shows light oxidization) 6. Some new parts including front brake pads and rotors, rebuilt steering column, new battery Fresh oil service all within the last 6 weeks. 7. Really cool leather and suede seats Not so Good 1. Windshield washer fluid pump does not work (wipers work fine) 2. Crack in windshield on passenger side 3. Older tires. Rear passenger tire may have a slow leak. I would recommend new tires. The good news is that this car has 14 inch tires which tend to be a little less expensive 4. Wire wheels show some oxidization 5. I noticed some vibration driving over 50 miles an hour which is either due to the old tires or there may be a slight misfire. My guess is that if it’s not the tires, there may be a bad spark plug or wire. 6. The lumbar switch for the driver’s side seat does not work. All other seat adjustment switches work fine. 7. The radio and tape player work, but I’ve noticed that it is difficult to tune in a radio station unless the signal is EXTREMELY strong. My guess is that a new antenna would remedy this problem, but that’s just a guess. 8. The body has some imperfections here and there. At certain angles, you can see small dents in the hood of the car, at other angles, they almost can’t be seen. There’s a scratch by the fuel door. The trunk has a half dollar shape/size scratch on it. The continental kit has some light rust on it as do the wheels. I was able to scratch some of it off with my fingernail, so if someone was to take care of it soon, it shouldn’t be an issue. The good news is that many of these issues could be taken care of with some rubbing compound. Additionally, you should expect regular chips, scratches, dings, etc from a 24 year old vehicle. Overall, I think the body is in pretty good shape. 9. On a portion of the rebuilt steering column, there is some discoloration due to epoxy repair (see pictures) 10. There is a piece of door trim missing on one side of the car. I have the trim piece, the adhesive just came loose. Some strong 3M double sided tape should take of the issue. 11. The trunk has an automatic pull down motor that does work, but every once in a while if you open the trunk, the motor just continually goes up and down until you close it. Sometimes it doesn’t do it, sometimes it does. They do sell replacement pull down motors on Ebay for like $25.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CAMARO-GM-Other-TRUNK-LID-HATCH-PULL-DOWN-MOTOR-HOUSING-/390330640911?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5ae184ea0f 12. The leather seats show some wear, but are actually in pretty good shape for how old they are.13. Even though the battery is new, it seems to drain like a half a volt an hour. I have no idea why. I am trying to figure out what's up, but it's something that you should be aware of Summary As you can see the car has a few issues, but it also has some stuff going for it. I bought another car and I need to get rid of this one ASAP. I can get $400.00 scrap metal for it, but I REALLY hope that doesn't happen. The car is too nice for someone not to enjoy. A little work and elbow grease and I think this car would make someone VERY happy. Not to mention, I have almost $2000.00 in to it. Even if someone wanted to buy the car to part it out, I think the touch screens themselves are worth between $100-$300. Overall, it’s a really cool car. I think it would be great for a collector to do a little refurbishing or for someone who just needed a cool car to bop around town. The car has a lot of potential and for its age, shows really well. The car has a 3800 V6 motor in it which I’m told are very reliable. I consider myself an honest Ebayer (see my feedback) and I have done my best to describe this car to the best of my abilities. You are welcome to come and take a look at the car or ask any questions that you may have prior to the auction’s end. The car is located in Mosinee, WI which is between Wausau and Stevens Point and approximately 2.5 hours from Madison.
