I purchased this VW Bus from a tow company lien sale about 5 years ago. The previous owners never picked it up from the tow yard. The bus did not run. The paper work on the lien sale identified it as a 1974 VW Bus. I registered as a 1974 VW bus and have a clear California Title. After beginning to look at the bus, Vehicle Identification number and paint colors, I discovered that is was actually a 1979 VW Bus. Well, no problem, do not need smog equipment for a 1974 bus. Good. The bus had not been running for a while and I decided to have a new 2000 liter engine installed. I purchased the motor from Russ Recycling in Southern California. I purchased it from a great running bus that had been involved in an accident in the front. It was a fuel injected model and I had the fuel injection equipment removed and in place had dual carbs installed. The motor was installed and ran like a dream. But, only for a few miles until the sediment from the gas tank clogged the filters. We changed filters a few times but eventually came to the realization that the gas tank would have to come out for a good cleaning. The motor was removed again, the gas tank removed and both reinstalled with all new fuel lines and gasket between the motor and the body. The bus is now run ning good again. The exterior has the original paint and is exceptionally straight. It does have scratches, dings and faded paint. The interior has all original panels and seats except for the center bench seat that is a light beige instead of brown. The (2) front seats are neither good nor bad and work for now. There is no radio and there are holes cut in the front door panels for speakers that do not exist. The headliner has no rips, the interior panels have a few areas that are starting to peel from the card board panels but could be glued. The odometer reads 20,461 and is probably 120,461 miles. The windshield wipers do not work and the wipers are not there. The glove box is complete with the insert. All lights and turn signals work. Tires are new and brakes were checked and still have some life. This bus needs some TLC but is an all original unmolested example of a California VW Van. Alittle surface rust around the front windshield and at a few other spots. other than that, no rust at all. All glass is in tact and windows open and slide. New battery cables installed and just serviced. This Van has minor cosmetic imperfections and is not a new van. I have tried my best to describe it accurately and honestly. There is nlo warranty.
