This car looks great most people will think it is newer than a 2002! The interior is in great shape with no tears or holes and only minor spots. I just got a company vehicle and this is now an extra car. Engine runs great and has a lot of power. I try to stay ahead of repairs by having all required maintenance performed as well as recommendations by mechanic. I redid the brakes last year (new pads, rotors and shoes). The side steps were rusting so I had them sanded and powder coated. Last month the auto shop replaced the serpentine belt, intake manifold, radiator flush, u-joint, oil change, front bushings, differential gasket and flush and four new tires (basically, everything the shop said needed taken care of). I believe the only rust is on the bottom of the inside of the drivers door (shown in a picture). The trim between the side and rear windows is showing wear in the clear coat (also shown in pictures). The passenger side mirror is not working. The A/C is operational, but takes awhile to start cooling. The transfer case vibrates when making tight turns at slow speeds (I was told by Ford Dealer that this is common in the all-wheel drive Explorers of this age). The armrests on the top of the door panels are fading from the sun. Car is sold as is due to it being a 2002 vehicle. I am not offering any warranty or returns.
