Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is my 1996 Chevy K1500 4x4 Silverado extended cab pickup. It has the 6.5 liter turbo diesel engine. I purchased the truck a couple months ago. I really wanted a 3/4 ton truck but found this one and now have decided that I still want a 3/4 ton truck. This truck runs and drives great don't be concerned by the mileage. The 6.5 turbo diesel engines got a bad rap for breaking crank shafts and having alot of injection pump problems but it can easily be prevented. 99 percent of the crank problems are caused by the harmonic balancer and crank pully going bad and causing the crank to break. I installed a new harmonic balancer and crank pully last week. When I got the old ones out, they were fine but since I didn't know if they had ever been replaced I wanted to change them out just to have the peace of mind. The harmonic balancer and crank pully should be replaced every 100,000 miles. The injection pump problems are usually actually PMD or pump mounted driver problems. GM put the pump mounted driver on the side of the injection pump where temperatures are hottest. The PMD being an electronic device doesn't do well in those hot temps and often times fails due to the heat. Many companies have started making PMD relocation kits to mount the PMD in a remote location away from the heat. This has taken care of most of the injection pump problems with the 6.5 diesels. The PMD in this truck is still in the stock location and hasn't had any problems but if I don't sell it, I am going to relocate it. The kits run anywhere from $60 to $250. I also installed a new 180 degree thermostat from SS Diesel Supply. I have also removed the factory exhaust and installed a new Diamond Eye 4" turbo back exhaust. It is Diamond Eye's straight through (no muffler) exhaust. It sounds awesome and you can really hear the turbo whine! You couldn't hear it at all with the factory exhaust! It isn't loud, just a nice low rumble! I have also installed new Autometer boost and pyrometer gauges. It has American Racing wheels and Bridgestone Desert Duler LT 265/75/16 tires. Three tires have approximately 60 percent tread, the other tire is pretty well worn. This truck has a ton of power and will get on down the road! I am getting around 19.5 miles per gallon on the highway. I haven't figured the mileage around town but it's way better than the gas truck I had before. I drive this truck everyday and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to California tomorrow! It is a good running, solid, 4x4 turbo diesel truck for a low price. This truck was also well maintained by the previous owners. I ran a carfax on it and there are 3 pages worth of service records listed. The KBB private party value is what my buy it now price is. I do have the plastic "Turbo Power" cover that comes on the engine from the factory if you want it. I removed it because all it does is keep heat from escaping the valley of the engine. Now for the bad. It has rust on both rocker panels, like most older Chevy's do. The paint is peeling on the top of the truck and I intend to sand and primer it if it doesn't sell soon. The only mechanical issue that I have found is that it needs a new U-joint in the rear. That is it! I can find no other faults with this truck. Oh, and the flames! LOL. It was painted like that when I got it. They are actually custom painted on there and look nice if you're into flames. Me, not so much but I guess I don't mind them too bad! Because of past problems with fradulent buyers, anyone without a paypal account will be blocked. $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction ending. I will be willing to meet buyer up to 100 miles from my location. If buyer wants it shipped, I will assist if buyer sets it up and pays for it. If you have any questions or want to see more pics send me a ebay message and I'll provide my phone number.
