Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1978 Ford F-100 short bed pick-up. it has a 300 6 cylinder, C-4 transmission, and a 9" rear. The truck is in good condition, with some rust repair needed. There is rust in the floors, and at the rear quarters; however this truck is in very good condition for its age, and looks good too! It has power steering, and power brakes. The tires are in very good condition with 10/32nds of tread remaining. It has later model wheels and mirrors, an aftermarket steering wheel, ( that I would replace 'cus its too small!!) and new never played pioneer speakers in the doors. ( There is no stereo!) The seat is in very good condition, and black in color, and black Ford carpet has been added over the factory rubber floor mat. There is a small dent in the passengers door, but no other dents noticeable on the body. The bed has had a piece of diamond plate welded to the floor and obviously used to cover some rust in the bed. Here is the list of what I know the truck needs, the radiator is partially clogged and the temp runs high after about 20 miles of driving. This condition existed prior to my purchase of this truck, as the previous owner got the motor really hot and then added cold water, thus cracking the head!! I have replaced the head and also found after this repair that the heater core also leaks, so it has been by- passed. The engine runs very good; however there is a lifter tapping that does not affect the running of the engine and it runs smooth and drives along well. I have also since found out that the trans needs to warm up to engage into drive the first time in the morning.....after the initial engagement of the clutches in drive, it works like a charm and the shifts are firm, and normal. This is an indication that the clutch seals are suffering from age and need to warm up to seal properly. ( should have a re-seal of the transmission ) It is also missing the left rear shock absorber. All in all it is a good starting point for a hot rod or a restoration. I have had it for sale here locally and due to the economy, everyone wants it for nothing and tries to pick it to death!! My response to them was " if you are looking for a new truck, go buy one!! LOL This truck is a 1978, and in good shape for the age. it will make a nice toy for someone. I hope I have enough pictures of the good to out weigh the pictures that show where it needs work, and again, this is a good starting point for a truck of this age! There is no reserve on this truck, and if you do not have the cash to buy it, please do not bid on it. Thanks!! I also have a 351Windsor boat engine with a bad valve, and a C-4 trans that was built for a 68 Mustang with a shift kit that will fit this truck for an additional 750.00 to the buyer of this truck if you want it!! This is local pickup only! If you want it shipped, you will need to provide that for yourself, and I will help in the loading of the truck if needed. Feel free to e-mail me with any other questions you may have through this listing.
