HELLO TRIUMPH FANS, IVE BEEN ONE FOREVER,ANYWAY ,FOR PICKUP ONLY,IN STRATFORD CT, A RECENTLY RUNNING,UNTIL LAST WEEK 6/25/11...77 TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE 750... A LIITLE HISTORY...AT THE END OF LAST SEASON,I DID A TOP END ON THIS BIKE,ALONG WITH THE HELP OF THE LOCAL TRIUMPH MECHANIC,WHICH HAS A SHOP A BLOCK AWAY FROM ME. I DISSASEMBLED ,AND BROUGHT THE HEAD AND CYLINDER FOR MACHINING AND A VALVE JOB. NEW VALVES, NEW GUIDES ECT. I REASSEMBLED BIKE,AND HAD A SMALL LEAK AT THE FRONT (EXHAUST PUSH ROD TUBE,AT THE BOTTON).I RODE IT LIKE THAT FOR THE REMAINDER,OF THE SEASON, WHICH WASNT THAT LONG. I DID THE WORK IN OCTOBER. THIS SPRING, I RAN THE BIKE AND STILL HAD THE LEAK,SOMETIMES LEAKING,OTHER TIMES NOT. I GOT TIRED OF CLEANING IT ALL THE TIME,SO LAST SUNDAY ,I RIPPED IT DOWN TO DO THE SEAL AGAIN. I AT THIS POINT,WAS GOING ALONG GOOD TILL I REMOVED THE CYLINDER. I DISCOVERED,A CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CYLINER,AND UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION,THE BROKEN TAPPET BLOCK, ON THE EXHAUST SIDE. I WAS GOING TO GO AHEAD,AND TAKE OUT THE MOTOR,AND SEPARATE THE CASES,TO SEE WHAT OTHER DAMAGE HAS HAPPENED. THE INSIDE OF THE PISTONS SHOW MARKS,AND THERE ARE SOME SCRATCHES ON THE CONNECTING RODS. IVE HAD THIS BIKE FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS,AND IT RAN WELL...AGAIN..I WAS RIDING IT LAST WEEK BEFORE THE TEARDOWN,AND CRANK SPINS FREELY,BUT THOSE BROKEN TAPPET FLANGES ARE NO DOUBT ,STILL INSIDE THE CASE. HERES WHATS BEEN DONE IN THE LAST TWO SEASONS.NEW REAR SHOCKS ,THE REAR CALIPER AND BRAKE CYLINDER,REBUILT, THE SEAT ,ONLY TWO SEASONS, BOUGHT NEW, THE ORIGINAL FRONT FENDER,RECHROMED. TIRES, ABOUT HALF THREAD REMAINING. TANK AND SIDE COVERS DONE THREE YEARS AGO,STILL LOOKS GREAT. PIPES AND MUFFLERS,LAST TWO YEARS. TWO AMAL CARBS,BOUGHT THREE SEASONS AGO, SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PRIME IT WITH THE TICKLER IT KEERS RUNNING,SO IWOULD SHUT THE PETCOCK START IT AND THEN IT WOULD BE OKAY....DOSENT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME,BUT MECHANIC SAYS THEY NEED CLEANING. THERES THE TAPPET ,FINNED BLOCK OIL FEEDER,BUT ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL.ONE YEAR OLD,SECONDARY CHAINWHEEL SPROCKET,AND CHAIN. THIS IS PICK -UP ONLY, I WILL NOT SHIP..THANKS,FOR LOOKING. THE BIKE IS REGISTERED,AND DONT BELIEVE I NEEDED A TITLE WHEN I REGISTERED IT 5 YEARS AGO. THE MILEAGE IS HARD TO CALCULATE, THE MPH DIAL WORKS ,NOT SO WITH THE MILEAGE COUNTER,AND TACK WAS WORKING.,THE NEW BATTERY,IS TWO WEEKS OLD,ALSO FORK LOCK WORKS WITH THE KEY...MY PHONE NUMBER IS 203-386-1587..IM 58 YEARS OLD,AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE THE TIME TO DO THE REPAIR,I M NOT SO SURE ABOUT THE MONEY END OF IT. THE MECHANIC SAYS IF IM LUCKY ,ONL Y THE CYLINDER BARREL ,TAPPET BLOCK,AND BOTTOM END PARTS ,CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS,.ROLLER BEARING ON CRANK,IS ALL I SHOULD NEED,ALONG WITH THE OTHER USUAL STUFF, GASKETS,MACHINE WORK ON ANOTHER CYLINDER BARREL,AND A NEW PISTON SET,WHICH TO ME I CAN SEE IT ALL ADDING RIGHT UP...ONLY HE SAYS LOL...I GUESS ITS NOT A TON OF MONEY,BUT... I GUESS IVE LOST INTEREST IN IT AT THIS POINT.................OTHER STUFF I JUST REMEMBERED, THE SEAT ASSIST BAR,AT THE BACK,IS NEW(TWO SEASONS AGO,ALONG WITH CHROME CHAIN GUARD...I ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL ONE WHICH IS PAINTED ORANGE...THANKS FOR LOOKING,AND REMEMBER, NOTHING IS ETCHED IN STONE,AND WILL REVIEW ALL OFFERS.......IVE ADDED MORE PICTURES, OF THE DAMAGED AREAS ,NAMELY, THE INSIDES OF THE PISTONS,ONE MORE THAN THE OTHER,WITH THE OUTSIDE OF THEM, FAIRLY NORMAL WEAR,AND CONNECTING RODS,WITH SCRATCHES, MORE ON THE BACKSIDE OF THEM, WHERE THE FRONT LOOK OK.
