Gorgeous 1971 Mercury Comet in Lime / "Tennis Ball" green. This is an original factory color that Ford was putting out in the 1970's. I have seen in on other Comets and on a few Pintos. The combination of this unique color and the wonderful profile created by the design of this car makes it a real head turner. This car has been featured on a local rock band's record cover and it has been used by downtown SF ad-agencies for advertising campaigns. I have been owner this car for the last 12 years and 30 thousand miles and the previous owner was my friend and former neighbor. It has the original V6 engine, the original seats (I think) and original interior that is in good shape. There are a few tears in the ceiling cloth, tears in the vinyl on the passenger side, and the dash is cracked form the sun. The car has been in the Bay Area its entire life. And yes, the license plate number really is California 420-DOJ and it of course comes with the car. As you may have seen in the pictures, there are a few dents on the beautiful exterior of this car. There is on one front left fender, on the back right fender and a small on one the hood. You might not notice it upon a quick look, but there are some rust spots on this car. Both of the wheel wells in the trunk have very recently succombed to rust. There is also a little inside surface only rust under the hood and a perforated rust spot on the drivers door. This car is currently having some mechanical and electical issues. The electircal system is draining the batteries so it will be diffuclt to start. Once started the car runs, but it stalls sometimes when idle. If you buy this can you should plan to tow it away from my residence.
