After 24 years of ownership, the time has come to bid goodbye to L'Objet Dart, my prize 1966 Dodge Dart GT convertible. What it is: A frame-up restoration (now twenty years old) of a classic Dart convertible, including completely re-done seats and interior, rebuilt 225 Slant Six engine (3-speed Torqueflite column shift, not console) with lots and lots of extra goodies, including authentic "Dutra Duals" split exhaust headers (not installed), owner's manual, original sales brochure, and gobs and gobs of extra parts. The car is an authentic GT, with power steering, split front buckets, GT badging, etc. What it isn't: Drive off-the-lot summertime-fun ready. The car has been in storage for the past three years, and has not been seriously driven for the past five. It needs a new top, and a new paint job. Surface rust has appeared where the paint has flaked, although the frame and sheet metal underneath is in excellent condition. Never could afford to have the bumpers re-chromed, so you'll see the usual wear there. It could use a new wiring harness. The gas gauge doesn't work, though I have a spare. It's dusty and dirty. In short, the car is suffering from neglect, and it doesn't deserve such a fate. It needs a new home and a new owner to restore it to its once-pristine glory. Low reserve from this motivated seller. What it needs now is a motivated buyer who just might walk away with a heckuva bargain. The pictures - with the exception of the first one (parked on the Skyline Drive) and the Dutra Duals shot - are all recent. Note: because of location circumstances (car is in Charlotte, NC; I'm in Boston) the vehicle is NOT available for view before sale.
