Vehicle Detail

I purchased this car from the North Bay Cadillac Dealership here on Long Island in early 2000, with about 42,000 miles on it, and have loved owning it the entire time. It is what is/was called "Triple Black": A black interior, black exterior paint, and a black premium material Carriage Top, which gave it quite an elegant appearance. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price when new in 1995 was $45,455.00. Here's a list of its equipment: 4.6L, 270 HP, Northstar Engine, gets about 25 MPG Highway 4 Speed Auto Transmission Remote Start (engine will stay on for 10 minutes) Remote Keyless Illuminated Entry (cab lights go on at dark when remote is activated) Front Wheel Drive Fog Lights Power Antenna Intermittent Windshield Wipers Automatic Emergency Brake Release (not on newer models) Power Rack & Pinion Steering Speed Sensitive Steering Electronic Level Control Road Sensing Suspension Stainless Steel Dual Exhaust Short/Long Arm Rear Suspension Cast Aluminum Wheels, 17" Radial Tires (matched set) with lots of good tread Left Spare Tire (with proper lbs of pressure) and Jack in the Trunk Trunk Net to hold contents from rolling Driver & Front Passenger Air Bags Anti Lock, Power Disc Brakes Traction Control Front and Rear Defrosters Locking Fuel Door with Release Button inside of the Glove Compartment Trunk Release Button inside of the Glove Compartment as Well as on Remote Reflectors on Doors when opened Anti Theft System (car lights flash and horn beeps) "Flash To Pass" feature (blinkers visible from side of car) Power Door Locks with Child Safety feature Steel Safety Cage with Front & Rear Crush Zones Power and Heated Outside Rearview Mirrors Side window defogger Outlets Ignition Anti Lockout feature Sunshade Solargreen, Solar Ray Duplate Laminated Tinted Safety Glass with No dings/Cracks/Repairs Power Trunk Release and Power Trunk Lid Pulldown (gently lower trunk to about 2 inches, the power lever securely closes it the rest of the way) I was given an Owners Manual for a 1996 SLS, and haven't found any big hardship using it 2-Volume Repair Manual is included (on the floor in the photo of the rear interior) Place for a Garage Door Opener near the Sunglass Holder The interior has: Leather-Wrapped and Wood Trimmed Tilt Steering Wheel Zebrano Wood Appliqués Nice Lighted Glove Box that's about 3 or 4 times bigger than the newer models, with Spare Fuse Storage (fuses included) Front and Rear Air Conditioning (Works really well, but needs a Recharge for this Summer) Mini Console with Dual Cup Holders & lots of Storage Space Dropdown from Above Sunglass Holder (this feature not on newer models) 6-Way Power, Fully Reclining, Heated, Leather Bucket Seats with Adjustable Lumbar Support Bose AM/FM Stereo System with Cassette Rear Controls for Both Heat and Air Conditioning Leather Rear Seats with CenterPull-down Storage (not on newer models) Rear storage compartment pulls down in middle of rear seat Leather Map Pockets on backs of Front Seats Sun Visors have Vanity Mirrors with Adjustable Lights, and a Pull-Out for Extended Shade (not on newer models) Day/Night Adjustable Rear View Mirror with Compass (not on newer models) Original Cadillac Black Floor Mats There are 2 Key Fobs, a Remote Start Fob, 3 Ignition Keys and 6 door keys I probably missed some features, but you get the idea: This has been the most luxurious, comfortable, responsive, easy car to drive that I've ever owned. The amazing suspension has really been a godsend, after all of my back surgeries. Oh, and the information panel in the dashboard will change to metric in the push of a button, should you want to go up to Canada! Everything listed above is in excellent working order (as long as the air conditioning gets its charge), and every light works. No one has EVER smoked in my car. We keep a little book in the glove compartment, and have meticulously listed every oil change (it takes 7 quarts, and always gets full synthetic), every replaced part, new tire, etc - each part that was maintained/replaced since the day we first took it home. The car will be due for its annual NY State Safety & Emissions Inspection on July 10th, and should easily pass. Now, here's everything bad that I can think of: The leather on the driver seat is worn (there's a photo of it), and there's a small 1/4 inch tear in the rear seat. The car was not garaged, and the paint has pitted badly. There are 2 rust spots: One over the back of the right rear tire (pictured) and a very small one at the bottom of the left rear door...they've been there for years and haven't gotten any bigger. In addition, someone keyed the exterior, and that includes the carriage top, which was replaced a couple of years ago at a little over $1200 - the worst of it is on the two driver side doors - I guess they wanted me to see it right away (there's a photo of the two doors). The leather cover on the ash tray needs to be reglued, and the trunk lining needs to be refastened on the top right. There were never any major accidents, but there was a time a few years ago that I missed seeing a car after stopping at a stop sign, and a car bumped the front driver's side, at about 5 or 10 MPH - There's a photo of the little hole in the rubber of the bumper, and if you look very closely, the front quarterpanel is pushed ever-so-slightly back, but it's not enough to affect opening the door at all. Please see photos for these defects. Once in a while it idles roughly when it's first started, but smoothes out after 10 or 20 seconds, and stays smooth without overheating or anything for hundreds of miles if need be. Lastly, there's a clunk somewhere in the front end, only sometimes, mostly when the wheel gets turned to the right - We had it to our mechanic, and he told us that it wasn't anything major (tie rods were fine), and that it was safe to drive like it is. Honestly, it's been like that for at least a couple of years. I have a lot more photos, so please ask if you'd like to see more of something, or if you have any questions at all, and you're welcome to take a look at it. Local pickup only, please. I won't ship this car. I would love to fix everything that it needs, but it's mostly sitting in our driveway lately, so I concede to my husband that it isn't worth doing for us. If you can charge the air conditioning, and can get past the cosmetic problems and an occasional clunk, you'll have yourself a magnificent, dependable machine!
