Vehicle Detail
First introduced in 1955 as Ford's top of the line trim level for the full sized model, the Ford Fairlane was named after Henry Ford's Fair Lane mansion in Dearborn. As top of the line, the '55 Fairlane included chrome around the windows, "A" pillar moldings, chrome brows on the headlights, chrome side moldings and just about anywhere else you could put it! The '55 Fairlane could also be ordered in flashy two-tone paint schemes. The original factory price of the car was $1,960.00 for the basic model with additional cost for the V-8. This is the model 70C and in 1955 there were 173,311 such models produced. This car has had three original owners. The second owner purchased the car from its original owner and never moved it from the original owner's garage! It was purchased by the current owner in 1999 and has been driven very little and only in the summer. The paint, two-tone blue/aqua is original as is the interior, which is in excellent condition. The car has 58,527.7 original miles. It comes with the standard (manual) three-speed transmission on the column and has the original push button radio. The original owner's manual is included along with the original Service Policy made out to the original owner. An original "1955 Ford Chassis, Parts and Accessories" catalog is included as well as some other literature. This is a very solid vehicle. With the exceptions of regular maintenace, a new battery and a replaced exhaust tthis car is 100% original, right down to the correct whitewall tires. The car is equipped with 6.70x15 tires. The V-8 cylinder engine, rated at 162 horsepower, produces a top speed of 93 mph with 271.7 cubic inches of displacement. This vehicle is equipped with a three-speed standard (manual) transmission and the fuel tank holds 16.9 gallons of gasoline. The vehicle measures 198.5 inches in length; is 75.9 inches wide and has a wheelbase of 115.5 inches. The curb weight is estimated at 3460 pounds. This car is a beauty, in it's original condition inside and out. Please see the photographs. Car may be inspected by contacting the seller. Please feel free to ask questions. A small (non-refundable) deposit of $250.00 is required after the auction has closed and complete payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction.
