Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking! I've owned this bike since April, 2007. It was purchased from someone who had just moved to the central NJ area from Florida - where it had spent most of its life up till then. For the first 2 years I owned it, the bike was kept in my parent's garage. Then in the 3rd year of ownership I moved to an apartment in Jersey City and it was kept outside under a motorcycle cover. A year ago when I moved again, my Dad rode it from Jersey City to Somerset, NJ, where it has been stored since then in a dry, heated garage. It has not been ridden in about a year. Recently my Dad installed a new battery and new gas, and it started up after about 30 seconds of cranking. At first it smoked a lot but that was probably due to old gas in the carb bowls and fuel line (below the drain point), and also oil seepage in the head from sitting so long. After running rough for about 10 minutes it settled down and now runs smoothly and does not smoke. See the Youtube video of it being started and running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eiwkkyy_zu8 I'll list what's on the plus side first: 1. Starts and runs well.2. No leaks.3. Never been in an accident (I am taking previous owner's word on this, of course, but the title is standard, not salvage. I've never dropped it, and there's no evidence of it ever having been dropped.4. Everything works (horn, lights, indicators, etc...).5. Tires are in good condition - no leaks or cracks and about 40% tread left. On the minus side: 1. There is weathering evident in the plastics - particularly the control housings on the handlebar, which may have been black when new but are now gray. The plastic coating on the bracket that holds the instruments is peeling. Although the other plastic areas of the bike may look shiny in the photos and video, up close and in person they show signs of age and weathering.2. There is rust in the "elbow" areas of the handlebar, on the shock absorber housings, seam on lower edge of tank (not inside tank), and several other non-structural areas. Please see photos.3. One of the side covers has broken retention tabs and is held in place with zip-ties. In order to get to the tool kit you have to cut the ties and then keep a supply of them with you (or in the tool kit) to re-attach the side cover.4. Paint on the tank is definitely weathered - needs buffing out or re-painting. Original labels (probably warnings) on top of tank are completely weathered away and illegible.5. I've had to add hydraulic fluid to the clutch master cylinder (on the handlebar) about once a year. Don't know what that means, but I know it needs to be done when the travel of the clutch lever gets short - that is, when you only have to release the lever a bit for the clutch to engage. Once the fluid is topped off again, the lever functions normally (longer travel before clutch is engaged).6. The seat has a worn seam - it's not split, but just worn down to the white stitching along one seam on the right side of the seat.7. There is a round dent in the tank on the right side, up near the handlebar. It's difficult to see in the photos. Please view the photos carefully, and watch the Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eiwkkyy_zu8). Ask any questions you have before bidding. Included in the sale are the following items: 1. NJ Title.2. Official Honda Service Manual.3. Clymer Service/Repair/Maintenance Manual. As this is a used vehicle, there is no warranty, expressed or implied. No returns - all sales final as of the close of the auction. Pickup is the responsibility of the winning bidder. Pickup location is a residential area in Somerset, NJ (zip code 08873). I will help with shipping to the extent of giving access to the motorcycle to a shipper that you arrange to come and pick up the bike, but shipper must work around my schedule, so please make sure they contact me (phone number / email will be provided to winning bidder) before scheduling pickup. Naturally, the bike will not be ridden or moved before then. Once either the winning bidder or their designated shipper arrive and the keys are handed over, the bike is their property and they assume full responsibility for any damage that occurs after that point. For example, if the bike is damaged in the process of loading/unloading, or during shipment, it's 100% the responsibility of the winning bidder to file a claim with the shipper or pay for repairs themselves. The seller assumes no responsibility for any aspect of the motorcycle once it has been handed over to the winning bidder or their designated shipper, and under no circumstances will any refunds (full or partial) be made for damage or loss. If you do choose to have the bike shipped, I strongly recommend you choose a shipper that is DOT licensed and insured, and specializes in shipping motorcycles. This motorcycle is also for sale locally, so seller reserves the right to cancel all bids and end the auction early.
