Vehicle Detail

For Sale: in 08822 Flemington New Jersey. 1980 W116 Mercedes diesel sedan. Runs it on diesel or experiment on alternative fuels if you like* ****Check out the Euro bumper conversion, I went through a lot of trouble to convert this car. The lighting is also unique, similar to the 300D layout with the fog lamps. The before photo is #3. W116 cars are actually very attractive with European bumpers**** 1. Engine starts and runs very well. Has more power than all of the 300 diesels I've driven. 2. Transmission shifts well, later than my other 300 so the turbo actually does something! 3. Tires are nearly new. 4. Comes with many spare parts including spare front and rear glass and other items. 5. The front end has a European conversion with a real German nummertag! 6. Interior is also from a 1973 German gray market car, green/white plush stripes with matching door panels. Fabric is weak in places and across the rear shelf totally rotted--note the lace coach protector. Shabby but still cool, I think. Very comfortable seating, much more than the 80s seats. 7. Rust: it has holes in the rocker panels by the rear wheels, and above the rear bumper. The level of rustiness is much less than average for the area. The floors are not rotted through. The spare tire well has a large hole. 8. Front lights have been converted to H3 (hi/lo beam) and fog lamps where the low beams were. It looks great. 9. Title says "reconstructed" on it. It probably had and accident a million years ago and was repaired. The car is fine and can be registered and driven anyhwere. 10. The dash has cracks. I have a very nice color match slip cover over it, made of hard vinyl. Looks very good. 11. Radio is aftermarket with CD player. *This car has never had bio-fuels in it, but I do use veg-oil in my 300 wagon and have been using it since '05 hurricane Katrina. I've been using these cars ever since, and find them to be a very good value and easy to repair for DIY people.
