Vehicle Detail

For sale: 1996 Triumph Sprint 900 (885 cc) Motorcycle. The motorcycle is reliable, runs great, and is in good shape for 55,000 miles. I've owned two cylinder (a new Buell S3 Thunderbolt) and four cylinder bikes (Honda) before, and I can honestly say I liked this one the best because of the unique three cylinder powerband. It has good low end and the torque and power keeps winding up at higher RPM's, unlike the twins that drop off at higher speeds or like the fours that have zero power at the lower speeds. Also, the bike is more comfortable to ride than most of the typical sportbikes, as the handlebars are allow for a more upright riding posture. For a point of reference, this bike also accommodates taller riders well (I am 6'0"); again, unlike most sportbikes and unlike the newer Triumph Sprint models. I say this after riding the ~2000 + year vintage Triumph Sprint models, which seem to have smaller frames and don't seem to allow my legs to fit into the fairings well (my knees were knocking against the frame). This is not a problem for me at all with the '96 model. The Motorcycle includes the OEM clear Triumph windshield, plus 3 additional aftermarket windshields (two of which are taller for greater windbreak). The bike is pictured with the aftermarket small black tinted windshield installed. It also comes with a brand new battery, purchased just last week. Yoshimura aftermarket exhaust pipes are also included (aftermarket pipes shown separately; pictures show the bike with black factory pipes installed). FYI, I had the aftermarket pipes removed because they are noisy (they may need to be repacked) and I think the black ones look better. Please note that I think the carburetor is still tuned and/or jetted for the aftermarket pipes (I would estimate the bike puts out another 5 HP with the aftermarket pipes installed). Aftermarket handlebars are also installed on the bike, and the OEM ones are included as extras. This bike also includes a removable and lockable cargo case with a carry handle, capable of 10 second installation / removal (by key), which is capable off carrying 1 or 2 helmets. Specifications of the Bike are as follows: Engine Size: 885.00 ccm (53,73 cubic inches)Engine Type: In-line threeEngine Horsepower: 98.00 HP (71,14 kW)) @ 9000 RPMTorque: 83.00 Nm (8,46 kgf-m or 60,89 ft.lbs) @ 6500 RPMAcceleration: 4 seconds (0-60 mph) Stroke: 4Gearbox Type: 6 speedNumber of Valves: 4Cooling System Type: LiquidWeight: 215.0 kg (471,63 pounds)Front Brakes Type: Dual discRear Brakes Type: Single discPower to Weight Ratio: 0.4558 HP/kgSeat Height: 780 mm / 30.7 inches Why am I selling the bike? I am selling this bike because I just lost my job and will be moving and spending some time out of the country. Please note that the bike has been laid down by a previous owner. As for remaining damages, there are a few standing scrapes on the RH side of the bike, on the front brake lever, the handlebar end, the mirror mount bracket, and on the fairing as well, but most people don't notice them unless you point them out. Pictures showing damages are included in the listing. I believe that the front rim was also bent in the same accident. The rim usually holds air perfectly (for weeks), but sometimes after riding it leaks loosing pressure over a day or two (going low but not flat). The kink in the rim does not seem to present a balance or structural problem (call me crazy, I've had it up to 120 mph+). Also, the cargo case is cracked (lower half only, as the prior owner rode double and the cargo case was used as a backrest). The cargo case is OK for some groceries or a helmet, but I would not use it to carry bowling balls. You could probably structurally strengthen or repair the cargo case via epoxy and/or fiberglass repair from the inside. Please note that one of the two cargo case locking latches is also broken. Finally, the tank pad (aftermarket) is peeling off the gas tank, which could be easily removed and replaced. Other than that, there are your everyday and ordinary wear and tear marks on various surfaces, but again, the bike is reliable and looks pretty good to the casual observer (most people find it interesting because they've never seen a Triumph before). Please note that I will ONLY ACCEPT PAYPAL for the $200 deposit due within 24 hours of end of auction. If you do not make arrangements to pick up the bike or ship it within 2 days, I will file the typical eBay grievance and try to offer the bike to the next in line on the auction. If you MUST pay the whole thing via Paypal, the buyer will be responsible for whatever incremental surcharge (I think of it as "theft") that Paypal applies to the receipt of payment. Cash payment is preferred. The motorcycle is currently located in Wausau, WI. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping costs. I am willing to deliver it to you as far as Minneapolis/WI or Illinois/WI borders at a cost of $1/mile (per Mapquest mileage calculation), provided that you drive me back home in your car! The non-refundable deposit of $200, plus non-refundable mileage-based delivery fee, is due via Paypal before I start driving anywhere. Seller delivery services DOES NOT INCLUDE aftermarket pipe transport. If buyer elects to use a third party delivery agency or shipper, I will transport it to the shipper of your choice within 25 miles of Wausau, WI at no charge upon complete payment. I will NOT coordinate or quote other forms of shipping or delivery for you. I will also discount the sale the amount of $150 for a local pickup, cash payment, that happens the same day of auction close. I also have a Nolan XL N-Com Helmet which is NOT INCLUDED with the auction. The helmet features a hinged jaw (which swings open and makes it like an open face for easy removal, better visibility, or stoplight conversation). It also has lower and upper air vents and factory designed accommodations for headphones. The helmet has a few scratches, mostly on the bottom from riding in the bike luggage case (I avoid wearing the helmet unless I'm on the freeway), but I am willing to sell it with the extra shields for $150 extra. Shields include 1) full tinted and mirrored shied [as shown on helmet], 2) a clear shield, and 3) a half-height tinted shield that installs over the clear shield). Headphones and comm system are not included. The shields are in very good shape and virtually free of scratches. Please feel free to email me with your phone number, your name, and a good time to call if you would like to have additional pictures or have additional questions. Thanks for bidding!
