Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale at NO RESERVE is my 1975 Caprice Classic Convertible with 86,000 original miles. The 350 engine starts easily, runs well, and the 350 turbo transmission shifts great. The ride has obviously be altered by lifting it up and putting on the 26 inch wheels. I have a clean and clear title in my business name, and it is ready to hand over to the winning bidder. I'm selling it at no reserve because I know I will never finish it, and it's just sitting here doing nothing. 1975 is the last year for Caprice Classics convertibles. They are fast becoming the most valuable. There is no such thing as a cheap one. Some are already fixed up and cost a fortune, some are sad examples, and will cost a lot to fix up, and there are a few like this one that you can get, fix it up the way you want to, and have a good, solid investment. It will need a door skin and someone can pull out the area on the quarter panel. The door is fine as far as hinges, window regulator, latch, and so on. The door closes with a little help, and the window goes up and down fine. I found a door online for $70 awhile back, but haven't looked lately. That would be even easier that putting on a door skin. About the top---it always worked without a problem, until today when I was taking pictures. I didn't spend anytime looking to see why it didn't. I'm sure the dead battery didn't help, but it could be a switch, relay or fuse. The motor and hydraulics were never an issue, so I can't imagine they are now. The condition of the top is average, with it having a cut about 5 inches long on the passenger rear side. The glass rear window is in great shape. The white interior is in original excellent shape. The carpet was replaced, but not glued down. It needs to be glued down after it's put back in the right spot. Everything is useable just as it is. I assume whomever buys it will be customizing it anyway, but I wanted to say that the interior is fine as it is. You can concentrate on the body work and get the suspension the way you want it. I bought the car for a customer. He wanted me to buy it, ship it here, and then repair the body damage. I bought it from Delaware where it had been in an accident, and the owner was paid off by his insurance company. I bought it from the Haggerty Collector Car insurance company, and I shipped it to Florida. The customer paid me, and we were days away from starting the work when he went to jail. He needed his money back for legal fees, so I returned his money...and the car has been sitting ever since. I put the car on Craigs List a few times, and it got a huge amount of attention, but it wasn't the kind I wanted. I was willing to accept something else for it, but all I was offered was stuff I didn't want. I just want someone to see it, ask their questions, come to an agreement on a price if you want me to end the auction early, or put in a bid up to the amount that you are willing to pay and see where it goes. I know I will get a lot of crazy offers, and lowball offers because the car has some damage, and I will get offers for stuff I don't want, but I'm hoping that someone steps up and makes me an offer I can't refuse. It's that simple, I reserve the right to end the auction early, at any time, and sell to a serious buyer who will actually pay for it. I know I will also be asked these questions, so here are my answers; Will the car make it back to where I live? Probably, but it's your call. The engine and transmission perform excellently, but the car still needs an alignment, the tires rub from time to time depending how much air is in the rear air shocks or how far you turn the wheel. Both tires on the drivers side leak air, and need air once a week or so. The ones on the passenger side stay inflated. Will you swap me for my _________? Possibly, but it depends if it's something I like, can use, or can resell to get my money back. I'm old fat and white, so I'm not really interested in another Donk, hoopty, lowrider, or other kind of car. I do like old classic cars, preferably GM products from 1964-1972, big Harley motorcycles and custom choppers, Jeeps, boats, and so on. I could use a truck. I can swap for a "normal" vehicle, but it needs to be something I like, I can use, or I can resell easily. With that said, I don't want to possibly pass up something that I may want or like, so if you want to send photos of what you have, I'll take a peek and respond to everyone. Please email the photos to northshorebill@aol.com. If you live somewhere other than where I live, I'm not as likely to do it since the distance almost always complicates things. I am willing to swap my car and some money for the right deal, but I'm really interested in and prefer an outright sale. Will you sell it without the wheels? Yes, of course, but it will be the same price. I have no need for the wheels once the car is gone. Yes, I could resell them, but then again, so could the person who buys the car. Will I deliver it? No, that's all on you. I will help the shipper that you pick, pay, and arrange. Nothing more. The car is located in Port Charlotte, Florida...about 90 miles south of Tampa on Florida's west coast. I'm about 7 miles from I-75, which makes shipping easy. You can call or text me at 941-740-2277. Text messages will almost always get a quicker response. Emails work too---either write me through ebay, or directly at northshorebill@aol.com . PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. Thanks for looking, and good luck on your search.
