You are bidding on a 1985 Mercedes Benz 380SL. It has 33,147 original miles and is in great shape overall. The title is clear and ready to be signed over to the winning bidder. The description will be broken down into three parts as follows: Interior Condition The interior is in good shape. There is minor wear on the seats from normal use, nothing out of the ordinary. All of the interior instrumentation is in great shape and in working order. The radio works perfectly and sounds great. The interior lights all function and the soft top and hard top connections work great. There are no issues or problems with the soft top operation, it moves up and down smoothly. The seats work perfectly in all positions. The windows move up and down with no abnormal noise. Side view mirror controls are in working order. The carpets are in better than average shape as floor mats have been protecting them for most of the life of the SL. This was a non-smoking vehicle. There are no odors or abnormal smells coming from the interior or the ventilation system. All instrument lights work and all interior controls work perfectly. There are no cracks or breaks in the trim work or dashboard that I could see. Exterior Condition The exterior is in excellent shape on this SL. All of the exterior lights are crack free and in perfect working order. All the badges and emblems are intact and look great. The glass has a few very very minor pits from regular driving but nothing that is visible when sitting in the drivers or passenger seat. There are no dents that I could find on the SL. There is no rust on the SL. The wheels are in great shape and the tires are showing greater than 50% tread life left. Mechanical Condition Mechanically, this SL is in great shape. I drove it around to be able to describe it accurately. It starts quickly and smoothly with no knocks or squeaks coming from the starter. There is no belt noise and there is no bearing noise at idle or at speed. Acceleration is surprisingly quick and responsive. Just breathe on the accelerator and you're moving. Braking is tight and accurate. There are no grinds or abnormal noises coming from the brakes. Steering is tight and free from grinding and squealing, even at full left & right turns. The exhaust is in great shape and has no pops or abnormal exhaust coming out. It sounds great. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly on the upshift and downshift. There is no hesitation between gears while accelerating or decelerating. There are no leaks of any kind on the underside of the car. After being parked for 3 days, there were no drip marks on the ground and our inspection showed no wetness or leak areas on the underside of the Mercedes. The A/C blows ice cold and the heat warms quickly. There are no freon leaks in the A/C system. Service is up to date on the vehicle and an oil change will be performed prior to picking up the Mercedes. Terms of Sale The terms of sale are as follows. Telephone communication is required. A deposit of $2500 will be due within 3 days of the end of the auction. The deposit will be paid by certified funds. Paypal will not be accepted for this auction. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Once the deposit is received, a copy of the title, bill of sale and all appropriate paperwork will be sent to the winning bidder. If the winning bidder wishes, with prior approval, all of the aforementioned steps may be taken care of in person when the winning bidder comes to pick up the car. If the vehicle is being shipped, once we have full payment, the title and official bill of sale will be sent via Next Day Air to the winning bidder so that he/she may complete any registration and insurance that is needed. I require proof of insurance for the vehicle from the winning bidder. Without it, the sale cannot be completed. I will not and cannot provide license plates or drive away permits for out of state buyers. If you are an Illinois resident and wish to have the vehicle registered in Illinois, I can take care of that and have plates for the vehicle. Shipping is at the winning bidder's expense. I can arrange shipping, but the winning bidder will be responsible for all charges. Please remember that a winning bid is a binding contract. The winning bidder is not bidding on a chance to look at the vehicle, the winning bidder is the new owner of the vehicle.
