Vehicle Detail

Folks, I have been a participant in eBay trading since the late 1990s. Many of the Willys wagons I've seen offered seem to fall into one of three categories: total junkers (parts cars), abandoned projects, or high-end restored vehicles that most people can't afford. The vehicle I am offering here is far from perfect - But - it is one that you can get into and drive NOW, not have to spend time and big dollars on just getting it in condition to run to the Wal-Mart for a load of plywood or fertilizer. Now that I've said my piece, here's my description: This 1961 Willys wagon has been my "Old Reliable" but now it's time to let someone else enjoy it. It has a good-running Hurricane flathead six. Never had a problem with overheating. On the road the steering is accurate with no shimmy. The brakes were completely rebuilt (including parking brake) in Aug. '09 ( I have the receipt) and have only about 200 miles on them since. They are now a bit "spongy", might need bleeding. The transmission will jump out of second gear on decelleration or coasting. This is a common problem with these old Willys, various vendors have the parts to fix them. The lower body is in better condition than most I've seen on eBay. There is evidence of Bondo in some areas of the lower body but overall it's still solid except the top, which needs repair. The wagon was "rolled" at one time by a previous owner and repairs were not done right. Some Bondo has come out and rust is starting to take hold on various areas of the top (see photos). Other areas around the edges of the top are "lumpy", showing improper repair. It had a sunroof at one time but that was replaced by a sheet metal patch. The tailgate is in very good shape. The doors and tailgate lock with the same key. The door windows roll up and down OK. Both door windows have small cracks at bottom. Tail light lenses and bezels are new. All lights except brake lights and fog lamps work. Wipers and fuel pump have been converted to electric. Interior trim is mostly missing; the plywood trim panels are warped and worn but I'm including a new 8 pc. set of Masonite-type panels (see photo). They are pre-drilled and ready to install. Rear seat is missing; front seats are not original. The heater motor works but is noisy. I have removed and cleaned the gas tank, installed a new sending unit but the gas gauge still doesn't work. The license plate shown is not included with the vehicle unless buyer is an Oregon resident. I have tried to describe my Willys honestly and accurately but please e-mail me with any questions. This is an unrestored, 50 year old vehicle so don't expect it to drive like your Lexus. It's just a good ole wagon. Successful bidder to pay $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of auction's end. Balance to be paid by US Post Office money order, bank cashiers check, cash, or bank-to-bank money transfer within 7 days after sale. If paying by bank cashiers check, check must clear both buyer's and my bank before vehicle will be releaed. This could take two weeks or more. NO FOREIGN BIDS WILL BE ACCEPTED. NO BIDS ACCEPTED FROM BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN FIVE FEEDBACKS . IF YOU ARE IN THIS CATEGORY, E-MAIL ME BEFORE BIDDING OR YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO ABIDE BY THESE CONDITIONS, PLEASE DO NOT BID!! I regret having to put in these conditions but they are necessary to guard against scammers and non-paying bidders, of which there are plenty out there. Buyer to take possession of vehicle within 30 days of sale. Highest bid over the starting price gets it, so please do your homework before bidding and get your shipping estimate(s) so you will be able to follow through with your purchase. This is important due to the recent increase in fuel prices. Thanks for looking!
