Vehicle Detail

1985 Mustang GT with 5.0 HO engine. Not much of it is stock; I have nearly $10,000 in the engine bay alone. The engine is fresh - there can't be 500 miles on it. This wasn't a "buy a bunch of cool parts and bolt them together" type of build - it was carefully thought out. I intended it to be a "road racing" street car, with the option of eventually going road racing. The engine build is by Don Dixon's High Performance Engines. Don really knows what he's doing, having build hundred's of hi-po motors. Notable features include: 302 HO block, bored +0.030 Ford Boss 302 "long-throw" rods Eagle? forged pistons Ford steel crank fully balanced rotating assembly SVO bottom girdle SVO oil pump Canton 7 qt 'road racing' oil pan all ARP hardware, top and bottom FluiDampr crank balancer March undersize chrome pulleys triple roller timing chain SVO 'B' cam, hydraulic lifters Edelbrock aluminum heads Weiand Stealth aluminum intake manifold heads and manifold ported and flowed by Buddy Jentzen (an old school Nascar-level pro) Lunati roller rockers sodium-filled valves w/ triple-cut seats Holley carb (spare carbs are available) MSD electronic ignition system, rev limiter Bassani equal-length long-tube headers, stainless steel, ceramic coated Ford SVO mini-starter We haven't put the engine or car on a dyno, but we estimate that it is producing upward of 350 bhp. Other stuff: the stock A/C is fitted, but not currently charged smog pump replaced with idler pulley solid motor mounts plus torque link Stewart 3-core aluminum radiator light flywheel (19 lbs?) Centerforce clutch SVO T-5 "world class" transmission bespoke stainless steel dual exhaust through Flowmaster mufflers (no cats) Griggs Racing tubular front subframe with coil-overs (saves at least 75 lbs) Hotchkiss strut caps custom shock tower brace aluminum driveshaft driveshaft loop for safety 8.5" rear end Momo 'Quasar' wheels polyurethane bushings in the rear suspension bespoke Panhard rod is available but not yet installed larger late-model brakes by Hal Baer, now of Baer Brakes good tires The interior is stock except floor mats, shift knob, radio delete, fresh head liiner. There are a few issues. the odometer was replaced (at 68,000 mi?) with a 140 mph version, thus the indicated mileage is not correct; I can include the original odometer if desired the carb was recently rebuilt and has not been run; it probably needs adjusting the A/C has not been retro-fitted for new types of freon the nose cone is cracked and needs replacing; I include a brand new one the Griggs subframe moves the front wheels forward for better geometry, but the tires interfere with the bodywork; when replacing the nose cone the front of the fender should be flared (there is a partial fix in place so it can be driven) to get the best alignment, the subframe mounting holes on the passenger side should be enlarged so the subframe can slide forward (or is it back?) about 1/4" while the Griggs front subframe is a big improvement, it should be paired with a Griggs torque arm rear suspension for road racing the Momo wheels are great, but very few were imported so it's impossible to get replacements or parts The car has never been wrecked or repainted. There is a 1994 accident report; it exists because the #&%^$ that hit me insisted on it. Neither vehicle was damaged beyond a scuff on his bumper and a small scrape on my left rear fender - so minor I never got it fixed. I am the third owner; the first owner traded cars every year. The second owner was a high school kid that couldn't keep up the (outrageous) payments. He didn't do the synchros any favors, but the tranny was replaced long ago. I drive the heck out of a car, but apparently gently - I got over 90,000 mi from the OEM clutch. The car has essentially been off the road for the last 10 years, but the battery has been kept fresh. The car is not currently registered and may not meet emission requirements in your location. I reserve the right to end this auction early. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
