Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback to go racing with my son. It is a 1966 Shelby clone that is silver with dark silver stripes. The car was restored 2 years ago and has less than 1000 miles on it since. Body The paint is nicely done and is the perfect shade of metallic silver. The taping of the shelby stripes could have been done better, but they are acceptable. There are two small 1/2" cracks in the paint near the trunk hinges. Other than that the paint is really nice. It is not a trailer queen, but you'll be happy to enter her in the car shows. It has all new quarter panels, so there is no bondo covering dents. It has new chrome bumpers. The window moldings could use being removed and polished by a professional to boost the look, but they fit perfect. It has a new fuel tank and sending unit. Engine/Drivetrain It has a 1968 block 302 that has recently been rebuilt during restoration. The rebuild was not anything exotic, just a solid runner. It has an edelbrock intake and carb. It has long headers with a full dual exhaust that exits through the rear valance with nice chrome tips. The ignition has been switched over to a pertronix electronic with matching flamethrower coil. It has a new water pump, radiator, thermostat, 6 blade fan with cowl to keep it cool. The transmission is a 3 speed automatic C4 with a 8" rear end with 2.81 gearing. A new custom made driveshaft with pressed in u-joints and new yoke and transmission seal were installed. The gearing does not lend to the fastest acceleration, but it will cruise on the highway at 70 mph with no problems. The full exhaust sounds like a million bucks and will turn the heads. It has all new electrical components: ignition switch, coil, electronic distributor, and starter relay. Interior The interior is a stunning solid red that is perfect with the silver. The front and rear seats are new. The headliner is new and cream colored. It has new door pulls, window cranks, rear view mirror, sun visors, column mounted tach, dash mounted volt/temp./oil pressure gauges. New red carpet was installed also. All the electronics work except the small rear seat lights. Headlights, brakes, turn signals, and all gauges work perfect. The radio is a older cassette player that needs updated. I installed silver seat belts in all 4 seats. The rear seat folds perfect. The heater blower is not working, but I only drove it in nice weather. A new blower motor is $50. Suspension I replaced the rear leaf spring and installed a 2" rear drop to get the right ride height. Up front I installed new 1" drop 620 lb. coil springs with new coil spring mounts and insulators that got the right height and removed all the body roll. New ball joints where put in also. New KYB Gas-a-just shocks were put on to smooth the ride. A monte carlo bar was installed in the engine bay to help with frame flex. The car rides really nice with all the upgrades. Other It rides on 17" Coy Wheels "Eleanor style with new General Exclaim tires. It has no power steering or power brakes. The brakes are disc brakes, but they are new and stop well. The weatherstripping is new throughout. There are many other new parts and upgrades that were installed during the restoration.
