Vehicle Detail

Hi, Here is a New Arrival; 1959 Mercedes 220S Ponton Sedan, 6 Cyl. Dual Carb. "Hydrak" 4 Speed Automatic Clutch Transmission, One Owner, 85,668 Miles. It Came From An Elderly Owner on the Midcoast of Maine and has been sitting under a carport since 2001, At which time it was registered and used daily. We don't yet know if it runs, but it looks to be very complete, straight and original. I have some nice books and manuals to complement the car which were included to me and I will include them with the sale to the successful buyer... They Include; The Owners Manual, a Supplement for the Automatic Clutch Transmission, and a Factory Mercedes 220 workshop Manual. This Car is very solid, The Floors and Trunk, Underpan and Frame rails are surprisingly intact and do not appear to have any severe rust out. There is a spot about 10 inches long inside by the left front fender at a seam and there is some rust on the bottom edges of the hood. There are probably other spots as well but the majority of the car is solid. It looks like the original colors, Black and Creme and also looks to have had one re paint. The Hood has folded over the left hinge and needs attention, the Grille is Very Very Good. The Body is very straight. I Have the second Chrome Strip for the passenger side door and it is in great shape, All the Hubcaps are there, and in fair to very good condition. Engine appears to be totally complete including the Air cleaner, Carbs and all accessories, Does not look like it was leaking much of anything underneath, Doesn't run at this time. The Interior is a bit rougher but totally intact, the Dash is complete, all Interior wood is either on or in the car, the Red Leather seats are still intact but the top of the back seat is opened. Inside the Trunk are two spare tires mounted on rims that look absolutely brand new or totally refinished. The 4 Tires on the Car were also new and still in great shape. Looks like the Rear muffler was replaced and is in good condition, but the middle muffler and pipe is broken and needs repair. It is likely that I will try to stabilize the hood with a few small MIG welds so that it opens and closes effectively, and maybe see if the engine will run. Otherwise it is selling "as is" with no guarantee of anything, Other than my description and observations which I hope are helpful. Please Call me with any additional questions, or for additional pictures of anything you need to see. I am happy to help arrange shipping and loading but will not cover shipping costs. If you are interested in these cars, I have set a low reserve and will sell this very reasonably. I also reserve the right to end the auction early and sell the car to a local market buyer if that should come about. Thank you for your interest and I hope the right person gives this nice classic a home! Josh H. 207-478-6918
