Vehicle Detail
1980 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SD TURBO DIESEL RUST-FREE CALIFORNIA W116 Turbo Diesel I'm selling my beautiful CALIFORNIA 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel. This particular sedan was purchased in California in 2007, and was shipped to Milwaukee in 2009. I intended on using it for a vegetable oil conversion, but never got around to it. It has remained stored in my garage since it arrived in 2009. I have occasionally driven it during the past couple summers, but have not exposed it to the harsh winters here. It remains completely rust-free and solid there is no rust on the body, undercarriage, or door bottoms. The exterior is Gold Metallic, and is complimented by a classic Mahogany Rosette MB-Tex interior. The exterior was repainted the original color when purchased in 2007. The original paint was faded from the CA. sunshine. I have not had anything major done on the Mercedes, but have done some basics. The oil pan gasket was replaced due to some oil leaking about a year ago. The 5 glowplugs were also replaced at that time, as well as a valve adjustment. Many hoses have been replaced, as well as the fuel return lines, and fuel filter. Overall the engine is very clean, original and runs strong with proper acceleration. The transmission has never given me any problems, it shifts smooth and crisp thru its gears. The Mercedes overall handles nice and solid, with proper suspension. When I bought this Mercedes in '07, I was able fix most of the vacuum leaks with the exception of the climate control system due to a pesky mechanical servo unit, which im told are infamous for going bad. The fan still blows heat and cool air, just the servo has been bypassed. The A/C is not working, but the original system is complete, I beleive it needs a new compressor and refill. Windows were also repaired back in '07 and are working fine with the exception of the passenger window which needs a new window regulator as of last summer. Overall this Mercedes is in excellent original condition for its age and could be enjoyed as-is or also make an excellent candidate for a vegetable oil conversion. Thanks for reading! Passenger seat shows one small tear, and a few very small folds visible in the picture above. Solid, rust-free undercarriage, and door bottoms. Oil pan gasket replacement, glowplugs and a valve adjustment have all been performed in 2010. Also many hoses have been replaced, as well as the fuel return lines, and fuel filter. I have also installed a new Die Hard battery and heavier duty fuel filter which you can see in the picture above. This helps keep the fuel going to the injector pump clean. (less changes to the OEM spin-off filter too) This engine purrs very nicely. Above are wheel-well, and undercarriage pictures. Above are misc. cosmetic flaws. Mileage is showing 189k and appears to be original. 11612012021970 Good luck! TERMS OF SALE Please reply to my e-mail once the auction ends within 24 hours.
