Vehicle Detail
Description of 1986 Mercedes Benz 560SL: You are viewing a beautifully solid and well cared for 560SL Mercedes roadster, proudly reflecting one of MB's very best burgundy exterior and tan coachwork color combinations. She comes with both a hard top and the convertible top. Both are in impeccable condition (They are pictured below). We've repaired and updated almost too much on our diva to list here, but she is now the wonderful pre-classic, big block Benz roadster we envisioned, as well as an everyday driver if needed. Her actual mileage is a relatively low 115k, so this flashy roadster should render years of fun driving with typical maintenance before any significant restoration expenses are required to eventually upgrade her into show quality. But for a fun and exhilarating, top-down weekender or a real head-turner at special occasions, it will be very difficult to do better for the price. When you pull up to valet parking, they will no put her out front. But a cautionary caveat is in order -- If you do not like a constant stream of compliments and questions about your ride -- then do not drive this car! As one of the very best lookers of her era, this car is going to be a real bargain for the neo-classic visionary with a little patience. And did I mention, if you prefer your cars to sound like sewing machines, this one may not be for you .... because her tempestuous, 5.6 liter big-block will snarl and growl at the slightest provocation of the accelerator! As she is now just entering her advancing years. we've renewed and updated her as required -- the steering gearbox, the front end, replaced her tires, refinished the alloy wheels to a high platinum gloss, replaced the cruise control module and made various touch-ups in the cockpit . Of course, she has a clear Texas title and easily passed state inspection last month. I confess that we're sad to be parting with her, but we are now neck-deep into a much older car with many problems and much work ahead. The current NADA pricing for the 560 is as follows: Low Retail - $ 8,750Average Retail- $11,250 High Retail - $21,800 We feel her condition warrants a price somewhere between Low and Average Retail, but our reserve is lower and more than fair. A reasonable bid will buy this classic Benz Roadster. We want for her a good home and someone who believes in her value and potential over the long haul as we do. With the MB big-block power-plant on a roadster chassis, her classic potential and future value are highly promising as she now celebrates her silver anniversary. She is certainly not flawless, but her age-related dings and minor imperfections are age-appropriate, predictable, inexpensive and certainly not urgent, all things considered. Take a close look at her pictures and feel free to ask any questions. Shipping: The buyer will be responsible for picking the car up or having it shipped to their location.
