Vehicle Detail
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE FIND!!! I DROVE BY THIS CAR MANY TIMES WHEN IT WAS IN THE YARD AND GARAGE AND I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET IT AT A LOCAL SALE. WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED ABOUT THIS CAMARO. It is a Z28 car that was track raced from Day 1. It was apparently ridden hard, changed hands and was put away in a Texas garage for many years. During its racing career accross the southwest appearently this car was a consistent runner according to the story I got from the seller when I acquired it. I have done some numbers research and discovered that the car has a 1969 date coded DZ 302 Engine. That may not mean much (except it is clearly not the original 1968 engine according to NastyZ28.com Web Site) It does make sense that the engine could have blown and been replaced in those early racing days. One thing for certain is that It is not a counter replacement (CE block) but a REAL DZ 302. I checked the transmission, rear end, shifter and a few other key parts and the numbers seem to match the Z28 provenance of the car. I discovered an original plastic encased folder with the window sticker, delivery sheet and some other miscellaneous documents that seem to support the car's heritage. Send me your email and I will send you scans of those documents. Take a look at the documents and make an educated opinion on my Camaro!! WHAT I DO NOT KNOW Who Originally owned and raced the car. Clearly it was set up for racing but when and where is a mystery. I was told that it was at Donnybrooke in the early 70s but I know that TransAm racing was done by then. I would Love to here from any of you Texas folks who might know more about this car or the Texas track racing scene back in the late sixties and early seventies. I was intrigued by this car and acquired it to restore it. I have since acquired a 1970 Z28 and want to focus on that 2nd generation car. I like the 2nd generation cars more (shame on me ;)) so I will be spending my hard earned money on one car and not two. I have already acquired an number of OEM parts for the car and may start on a minor cleanup and facelift. My disinterest is your opportunity to score an nice and restorable car for a reasonable price. Who knows, you may discover some provenance that this is a rarer car than I think it is. Please contact me with any questions before you bid. I reserve the right to cancel any submissions from bidders who have low or zero feedback and to cancel he auction outright at any time. I will be adding many more pctures as I start cleaning this car and taking a further look "under the hood". Check back often as this listing will be a work in progress. HAPPY BIDDING!!! On May-21-11 at 09:55:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I have never had so many inquiries about a car. Obviously there is a big interest in this Camaro and that is the reason that I purchased it in the first place. Here are some consolidated answers to all of your questions. These are also available inn the Q&A section. The body, fram and pa ns are rust free. The reaer valance panel was adapted and the gas access was removed. It looks like this was done to allow for a quick fill spout below the rear bumper. The front valance
