Here is a sweet 67 R50/2 that I acquired from a relative of the original owner who owned a restoration shop.He bought the bike brand new and was a master mechanic and restoration specialist and he kept this bike in a climate control atmosphere.He fabricated a small wooden block under the front seat bracket and some small spacers under the handlebar risers so you can take the tank off without removing the seat,very innovative.The paint is original and untouched except for possibly the silver hubcaps and air filter which always faded and failed so altough it looks original and correct I believe they were repainted. The bike starts right up and runs fine.Charging and electrical all work proper.The bike is super smooth and shifts fine.The only flaw is I noticed the kicker return spring was a little lazy at times but always works.The mufflers are rusted through and should be replaced.There is an assortment of small dings nicks and scratches throughout the bike but nothing major.The obvious scratches are on the tail light extension. Its only original once.I have done very little to this bike.Changed all fluids,cleaned carbs which were not dirty at all and installed a brand new battery.The tires look good with no cracks and decent tread but are probably 4 years old and should be replaced.I have put about 75 miles on the bike and I am quite impressed with the smoothness and beauty it attains.It was extremely well cared for and regular maintenence was done throughout its years.It still has the original BMW steel cat collar tie wraps.Big 6 gallon fuel tank with the original petcock that does not leak which is nothing short of miraculous on these bikes if you know them.The inside of the fuel tank is outstanding. This bike is road ready and too nice to restore in my opinion.Some of the small rubber pieces are beginning to crack but they are only cosmetic.The bike is matching numbers and comes with a toolkit.No pump or manual.The paint is very strong and the seat is in very good shape.Some of the pinstripes have vanished from too much love in the polish department over the years.I have no key for the locking gas cap and have ordered a new original non locking type along with the prestigious Albert headlight mirrors for the finishing touch which will be installed any day upon their arrival.
