Vehicle Detail

jdyarbrou1 Store FOR SALE 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible C Code with C4 Automatic and Power Top. We just bought this Mustang Convertible from an estate sale. The Mustang has not been on the road since 1997 and not started since 2004 but stored indoor during this period. THIS IS A PROJECT MUSTANG. The pictures make it look like a very nice driver quality car, it will need all the typical Mustang repairs i.e. floors, torque boxes, drivers quarter and drivers fender. This is not an inclusive list but the major items. THE GOOD NEWS is that after changing the oil and filter, plugs, fuel filter and installing a new battery, I turned the key and with in one revolution the motor fired right up. It starts, runs, drives and brakes as it should. The motor is not smoking and sounds great (even starts with just the turn of the key no mashing the throttle). Mustang shifts fine and no noise but i did have to put several quarts of transmission oil in to engage the trans but works nice now and no big drips. I would say you may want to go through motor and trans but if you are just wanting a driver and upgrade as you go along you would be fine. The COWLS are rust free and a picture of the passenger side is attached. I washed the car and it sat out over night in a the rain and the next morning the floors were dry. AWESOME. The interior is very nice and has the RARE and OPTIONAL FRONT BENCH SEAT. They have been recovered I would think. The back seats are equally as nice. The dash pad is great no cracks or issues. The Convertible top was new 8-10 years ago and was covered in the garage. No rips or tears and back glass looks great. This is a Power Top but there is most likely no oil as the motor runs strong but the top will not go up or down but moves easily by hand. You will need to do some work to get it functional. All of the electrical, items work fine: lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. Radio is an after market am/fm and needs to be hooked up to power to work. Tires are radial and have good tread. The brakes and E-brake works fine. This Mustang is driving around the lot fine and has been driven for a short ride on the highway and no issues were found. The Bad NEWS: The gentlemen who owned the car patched the floors with sheet metal and did it on both the inside and the outside (pop rivets it looks). It is dry but not at all professional it will need to be done. The torque boxes are toast and will need to be replaced, the drivers quarter lower needs replacement, and trunk drop both side need replacing. The doors open and close nicely and there is no sagging in the car so the inner and outer rails are holding up well.the drivers fender will need lower patch panel and left rear frame rail tip will need replacing. Like I said it need typical Mustang work. The drive train and interior along with the convertible top are a good start to the restoration and will save you some money in the restoration cost.
