This car had not seen the light of day in about 30 years until last week when we unsealed the garage door (litterally). Today was the first day it had been out of the garage since about 1978. I am selling this car for the daughter of a neighbor who inherited it from her father. He inherited from his father-in-law in 1978. The car was titled in his name on August 3, 1978 and the title shows the milage at 42,225. The odometer shows 42,471. The title is clear and will be signed by the owner's daughter who has power of attorney and will include all necessary paper work required to transfer ownership. This is a no reserve auction. All sales are final. The car must be picked up within 7 days of the end of the auction and payment is to be made in CASH US DOLLARS ONLY. This car appears to have about 60% of it's original paint. The front fenders are in primer and I believe that to be related to rust repairs in the front wheel wells. Although the rust has been cut out it still needs some finishing. There appears to be evidence of some minor collision damage in the right front wheel well. The spare tire well is in very nice shape but has some minor rust (pictured). The right side fenders and door appear to have been replaced. The door and rear fender were re-painted in green. The white interior is original and in very good shape but needs a serious cleaning. The car has the original trunk mats. Other than the aforementioned rust issues the rest of the car appears to be rust free. The floors pans are in great shape as are the rear fender wells and under the rear seat. The front tires are marked "Wolfsburg" and the rears are snow tires. It has disc brakes on the front. This is a very original car with huge potential. That being said, do not plan on squirting some starting fluid in it and cranking it up and driving it around the block. This car has not been on the road for about 30 years. It needs a restoration but you don't find Type III's like this, especially on the east coast. This car has 42,471 original miles! If you close your eyes and shut the doors you might think you're at the dealership back in '69 they are so solid. I strongly encourage interested bidders to examine this car in person.
