Vehicle Detail
I have decided it is time to sell my 1971 Chevy caprice. I bought it in 2002 at an estate sale in St.Cloud MN. It was a one owner car with 23,000 original miles on it. An older woman had bought it from a St. Cloud dealer and had all the original paper work for service work done on it. It still had the old school tires on it when I bought it. I bought it and have enjoyed it for many years. I have used it as a second vehicle and took it on several trips. It is strong running car and has never left me on the side of the rode. I would feel very comfortable to say if you are the winner of this car, drive it home. It has had a fresh oil change and new tires on the rear. Front tires are still in good shape. The reason I am selling it is because, I recently got married and bought a house. And we are putting all of our extra money into the house. So I do not have the funds to put into the car. An since it is all original the paint is starting to fade and surface rust is creeping in, around the rear and front quarters. So please look at pictures. There is also a crack in the dash. And a after market stereo in it, the install was not the best I have ever seen. It could differently use new exhaust on it. It is also missing one piece of chrome on the front right wheel well. Te odometer has recently turned over, so it has just over 100,000 miles on it. I have had it running this spring and drive it weekly to keep it purring like a kitten. The carpet on the passenger side front is not in the best of shape. It does have the original factory front mat. Other then that the interior is in good shape. The back seat still has the factory plastic on it. The gas gage and turn signals are not working, all other lights work. It does have the original 400 small block in it, and I rebuilt the transmission at about 65,000 miles. It was a hard decision to let her go, but as a classic car lover, I would like to see her redone and appreciated like she should be. It is a very solid and clean car for as old as it is. I could use it as a daily driver, but to me that seems like a shame. My husband has a huge eBay store for motorcycle parts We do not sell vehicles , this is the first we have listed All negative buyer feedback will be reported to Ebay. Seller reserves the right to end the auction early since the car is advertised in other places as well. Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping. Please remember, this is a 42 year old car. I am representing it as accurately as I can based on my knowledge and have tried to give as much information as possible. It is being sold without warranty and as is... Please, if you are not intending on paying, please do not bid. All bidders with less than 5 feedback's need to contact me or their bid might be canceled. Car is being sold AS IS, NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKUP AND SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS. BUYER IS TO MAKE A NON REFUNDABLE $500 DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL WITHIN 24HRS AFTER THE END OF THE AUCTION. BALANCE IS DUE WITHIN 5 DAYS AFTER THE END OF THE AUCTION. BALANCE MUST BE MADE EITHER MONEY ORDER OR BY A CERTIFIED CHECK. A CERTIFIED CHECK CAN TAKE UP TO 10 DAYS TO CLEAR. WHATEVER PAYMENT IS MADE, CAR WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE FUNDS ARE CLEARED BY THE BANK. NO EXEPTIONS. IF BALANCE IS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN THE 5 DAYS AFTER THE AUCTION, THE CAR WILL BE RELISTED. NO EXEPTIONS. Just for fun, here is some info on the 1971 caprice that I researched, I am not using it as any form of description of my car. Chevy Caprice The 1971 Caprice was completely redesigned on a longer 121.5-inch (3,090 mm) wheelbase and featured fuselage styling. Flush exterior door handles and double-shell roofs were new on the Caprice – both features first appearing on the 1970½ Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. The new styling was highlighted by a Cadillac-like "egg-crate" grille with a "Caprice" emblem in the center and brushed metal trim surrounding the taillights on the rear deck. The "Full-Perimeter" frame and all-coil suspension were refined for improvements in ride and noise reduction. Inside were revised interiors featuring a two-spoke cushioned steering wheel and new instrument panel with horizontal sweep speedometer and instrument placement similar to previous full-sized Chevrolets. Caprices continued with higher grade interiors than their Impala counterparts with luxurious cloth-and-vinyl upholstery, wood grain trim on dash, steering wheel and door panels plus carpeting on lower door panels on both sedans and coupes. A center front seat armrest was also featured on sedans. Optional engines included 300 horsepower (206 net) 400 cubic-inch Turbo Jet V8 (not to be confused with the two-barrel 400 small block this engine actually displaced 402 cubic-inches) and 365 horsepower (272 kW) gross (285 horsepower (213 kW) net) 454 Turbo Jet V8 which came standard with dual exhaust. When equipped with dual exhaust, the 400 Turbo jet was rated at 260 hp (190 kW). At mid-year, the Turbo Hydramatic transmission and variable-ratio power steering became standard equipment on all Caprice models and lower-line models fitted with a V-8 engine. Chevrolet offered a full line of Caprice models for the 1966 and subsequent model years, including a "formal hardtop" coupe and an Estate station wagon. The 1971–1976 models are the largest Chevrolets ever built. The Caprice was renamed Caprice Classic for the 1973 model year, but the Caprice nameplate returned — added in 1986 replacing the Impala. The downsized 1977 models and later the restyled, aerodynamic 1991 model were awarded Motor Trend Car of the Year. Production ended in 1996. The Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for the 1965 model year becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which itself remained above the Bel Air and Biscayne. The Impala and Caprice nameplates are among the most popular in the American car industry. Both of these lines from General Motors started out as full sized automobiles but were later on reduced in size due to the rising cost of fuel. At times when both were in production, the Caprice models cost a lot more compared to the Impala. The Impala started out as a trim option for the Chevrolet Bel Air line way back in 1958. It later separated into its own line due to the huge demand from consumers. In a very similar fashion, the Caprice also started out as a trim option for the Impala but quickly superseded the Impala in terms of sales numbers despite its much higher price. The production of the Impala was halted within a few years of the introduction of the Caprice. The production of the Caprice was also halted in 1996 due to floundering sales figures. The Impala became known as a sporty model due to its emphasis on performance with the bigger engines, especially on the SS models. On the other hand, the Caprice model’s emphasis was on luxury and comfort. Extra features like air conditioning first appeared on the Caprice before being introduced on the Impala on later models. The interior of the Caprice is also plusher than that of the Impala and had more add-on features like DVD screens. Although more powerful engines like those on the Impala are available if the buyer wants it, most buyers opted for engines with much lower power. 1971 Chevrolet Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala, and Caprice Facts Model Weight range (lbs.)
