Here is a nice 1997 Mazda Miata M Edition, owned by my father who passed away recently. He bought the car when it had about 8000 miles on it. It has been garaged and not driven in winter. It is a good car, but not perfect. It has not been wrecked and the car is entirely original. M editions were rare, and automatic transmission versions even more so, let alone hardtop! I used to think I preferred Miatas in a manual trannsmission, but the auto is great, and quite strong off the line. 1997 Mazda M-Edition "Marina Green Mica with tan leather interior, tan boot and top Equipment: Nardi wood shift knob, wood parking brake handle, 15" polished 6-spoke alloy wheels with high-performance tires, cut pile carpeting, stainless sill plates, air conditioning, Premium Sound System with CD player and headrest speakers, exterior badge, M Edition logo on seatbacks and tachometer, M Edition pen/key fob/lapel pin, custom floor mats, Included Popular Equipment Package with: power steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power mirrors, Torsen limited slip differential, cruise control, power windows, power antenna, rear subframe brace Optional: hardtop, automatic transmission, ABS Production: 3000, produced from December through February Launched at February 1997 Chicago Auto Show Described in sales flier as "limited edition" Base MSRP: $24,485 plus $450 freight, plus options This car has a number of smaller blems/issues, such as small random dimples/dents (not too large or noticable), various scratches, etc. This is NOT a mint car. Dad was 89 and still driving the car for errands up to the end. The power antenna is kinked and needs replaced to retract properly. There is some kind of mounting bracket on the dash attached with adhesive (gps?). I think it can be removed okay, but I did not try. The front bumper has a scuff/scratch area seen in photos. Mudguards have some scuffs on them. There is a small burn spot on the top but it did not burn through. Interesting, since my dad didn't smoke. The rear window is original and has some waves/scratches, but is decent and viewable. The top is original and it good shape. The hardtop is in good shape. All panels may have some scratches or dings, nothing too major. Overall, the car acquits itself very well. Many/most of the cosmetic issues could be taken care of without too much expense, or altering the car. I'll give the car an 8 on the 10 scale. I just walked around it again, and overall it is in rather good condition, but if you are picky or looking for a perfect car, move on. I don't want someone bidding/buying and then getting here and expecting something it is not. You are welcome to inspect the car in person. You will need to pick it up in Lima, Ohio. The tires are fairly new Michelins and have loads of tread left. I think they are only a year or so old. Let me know what questions you may have.
