Here I am selling a Early to Mid-70’s Montesa COTA 247 trials bike! Montesa started making small motorcycles in 1944 and right off the bat they were extremely competitive in all fields of motorcycle racing! Montesa produced their first Trials bike in 1967… Only 44, 250cc units were produced that first year. With such amazing success in the off road world, as well as the International Six Days Trials (ISDT) their reputation took off, as well as production numbers! Not only known as probably the most competitive trials bike, the COTA 247 was also recognized for it’s styling, and with it’s Fuel tank and seat configuration won the Delta De Plata Industrial Adi-Fad (say that tens times really fast) Design prize!!! This particular bike as you can see in the photos was ridden but not abused! It has always been stored in good dry storage. I am not sure of its exact year, but the owner seems to remember it being either 1973, or 1974? It looks like the grips have been changed out and possibly the rear shocks? The original Montesa odometer says 510 miles on it! This bike has not been started in a few years, but has been drained of fuel, turns over freely, and has compression and spark! Being a competition motorcycle there are no papers for the bike. This is your opportunity to own a nice piece of the… “Cream of the crop” period trials motorcycle!
