Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1988.5 Suzuki Samurai. The color is green (matte spray job over the original blue). The truck starts and runs fine. Has some substantial rust around the inside wheel wells and floor pans. Other rust spots all over here and there. This would be a good 4x4 project. transmission and transfer case shift fine. Carb/idle needs adjustment but it's nothing that a competent driveway mechanic couldn't fix. There is the standard distributor oil leak but this can be fixed with a gasket. The timing belt gaskets probably need replacement as well. No blue smoke. A good bit of gray smoke when cold. This is a project truck but it does run and can be driven (I drove it to NY from Rhode Island when I bought it last Winter). I'm getting rid of it so I can focus my time on a different project truck. Has a box of random new parts that I was going to put in (timing belt, gaskets, etc) and some tune up stuff I over ordered (fuel filters, oil filters). I already did a full tune up, new battery cables, new starter, new water pump, carb vent tube, and sloppy shifter fix. Also has 2 sets of wheels with tires, on-road (x5) and off-road (Super Swampers x4). Both sets have better then 50% tread left. Has seats from a Jeep Cherokee that are bolted onto hockey puck risers. Has a lift but I don't know how much, maybe 4" or so. No A/C, power steering or radio. This had a valid MA inspection sticker when I bought it. I never bothered getting it inspected in NY. Could be a fun truck for someone with a little mechanical/autobody skill or buy it cheap and wheel it like you just don't care. The Good: Tuned up Fresh oil change with Royal Purple Synthetic and Mobile 1 filter. Carb vent tube (recall item fixed) Spare set of wheels and tires for off-road New starter New water pump (there when I bought it but clearly new) Brakes had just been redone when I bought it (less than 1000 miles ago). Newish battery (swapped in from my Jeep w/ ~10,000 miles on the battery) New battery cables Some new wiring (where it was needed) Clicky starter fix (common issue, fixed with aftermarket relay). Sloppy shifter fix (common issue, fixed with shifter bolt). Rust treated with etching chemical so it shouldn't rust any further for now. The Bad: Plenty of rust (see photos for example). A few oil leaks from gaskets. Questionable paint job.
