Vehicle Detail
UP FOR AUCTION IS MY PERSONAL "SHOW QUALITY" 1969 TOYOTA FJ40 LAND CRUISER... IN MY OPINION, THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST ORIGINAL FJ40'S YOU WILL EVER SEE ON EBAY, AS A MATTER OF FACT, THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST ORIGINAL ONE EVER SEEN. NO BODY RUST, NO DENTS, NO REPLACED BODY PARTS. RUNS PERFECT LIKE IT IS 1969. ORIGINAL ENGINE WITH ONLY 53,800 MILES. I purchased this from the owner of Modesto (California) Toyota who had owned it since 1995 and he purchased it from the original "local" owner who had purchased it on 12/12/1968. I have the first issued California Registration card dated 01/08/1969. This FJ has been driven 52,736 miles by the first owner (I have receipt to prove.), less than 100 miles by second owner (used in showroom for 14 years) and just 1000 miles driven by me. I could easily have used this as my only car and a daily driver. I have always kept my FJ in the garage and have NEVER driven it "off-road" or in bad weather (just a few times caught in the rain with no option but to drive home). I do want to point out that from time to time, there can be a few (very very very) small "contact" surface locations with what I call, "surface rust". These are common with this era of automobiles. An example of this can happen when a outside door bolt cracks the paint and you only notice it a few days after you have washed the vehicle, it appears as a discoloration or "surface" spot. I feel they are too small to photograph. This can be removed with #4 steel wool. I prefer to midagate this with a top-coat of clear fingernail polish rather than use the steel wool or touch-up paint. I do the same treatment anywhere there may be a small chip in the paint from a rock. Mine is an original FJ, restored to / with factory original parts where possible. The previous owner (Toyota dealership owner!) supervised all of the "visual" up grades like, fresh factory color paint, new rubber trims, new Cooper mud tires, new original styled upholstery, new shocks, exhaust and many many other detailed items. Since I have owned it I have replaced all the leaf spring bushings, worked on the brakes, repaired the taillight and license plate wiring, flushed the cooling system, replaced the valve cover gasket, replaced exhaust manifold, and of course, changed oil. This FJ is four wheel drive with front locking hubs. Front seats are "split" bench style and the back are facing (rightside leftside) bench seats which are a very hard option to find. Three speed manual transmission, steering column (3-on-the-tree). FYI, there was never a radio in this FJ, but it does have an antenna. All gauges are currently working. There is no AC and it does not have power steering. Currently located in Mount Crested Butte, and it comes with a clear Colorado title. Buyer responsible for all tagging and Title transfers. New owner will also need to adjust fuel intake, currently set for 8000 foot altitude (thin air). Can be viewed in and shipped from Gunnison, Colorado. Estimated shipping fees to either coast $850.00. If you want to get a quote, I have used United Road (Chrystal) (888)278-2793 and was very happy with their service. As further promise, you will notice my Ebay seller ID, 1969-Z28, that was my first purchase ever on Ebay and I bought my Z sight unseen out of Canada. I shipped it through customs and moved it from Chicago to Los Angeles where I was living. I tell you this story so you know I know what you expect and what you are hoping for when you look at my FJ. There will no disappointment if you are lucky enough to get this FJ! What you are buying is one of the best kept pieces of Automotive history I can offer you. Before I completed some of the resent work and during the darkest time of the financial crash in 2008, my FJ was appraised at a value over $25,000, by a well respected Appraiser that has done appraisal pricing for some of the wealthiest people in Aspen Colorado. I do understand the "phantom" value of appraisals but I feel this FJ is worth what I have it listed for. Good luck bidding and enjoy if you are the lucky winner.
