Good Luck to all you bidders! Here is an exceptionally sharp and PHS Documented, REAL, 1965 GTO Convertible! It was built in Pontiac, Michigan and sometime in its' life, it was taken to the sunny and dry state of California where it was restored before coming to Arizona! This is a very nice older restoration that was done in the mid to late 90's by a wealthy gentleman in Carmel, California for his own enjoyment. Several years ago it was acquired by the caretaker of the car with the intention of keeping it forever. Tough times forced him to let his baby go, so his loss is your gain! I have a folder full of receipts totaling many thousands of dollars spent on this beautiful Muscle car! It started life as a very unique and appealing, Turquoise on Turquoise color combination and it was restored with these great colors! The Black convertible top is correct, as well! The paint was applied in the late '90's and while it is not show quality, I would definitely consider it extra sharp, driver quality that has been sanded and buffed to a high luster! While it's not a totally virgin body, any prior issues have been successfully addressed in the form of a new trunk floor and repairs to the lower rear quarters. Not much has been done to the underside, so what you see is what you've got! In the interest of full disclosure, I will mention a few small spots in the inner rockers and a repair in the front corner of the side rail. These few areas should not at all detract from the appeal and desirability of this unique GTO! The bumpers have been rechromed, the grills are in great shape and the rest of the chrome trim is new rechromed or nice original. The power top works great and the convertible top is like new! The original color, Turquoise interior looks very sharp and I was told, they could still be the original seat covers and door panels in place and they look great! The carpeting is new and the dash and console are very sharp! The gauges are clean and bright and the dash woodgrain has been replaced. The dash cluster has been rechrome-plated and the dash pad is beautiful. The console is in great shape and it has what appears to be the factory style, 1967 His and Hers Hurst shifter as well as a Pontiac Vacuum gauge mounted on it. The gauges all appear to work as they should, in fact the clock even works! The wipers, horn and all the running lights work as they should and the factory radio is in place but not hooked up in favor of an Eclipse AM FM CD radio tastefully installed in the factory tissue dispenser with custom speakers and it works great! Mounted in the trunk is an Eclipse 8 Disc CD changer as well as a JL Audio Amplifier. The steering wheel is a RARE 1964 Wood Custom Sports steering wheel that the first owner paid $650 for in 1998! This is truly an exceptional and appealing interior! Mechanically, this is one of the nicest running and driving Muscle Cars that I have ever driven and it's FAST! Most of the mechanicals appear to have been gone over and replaced at some point because it really does run, drive and handle very well! I don't have information as to exactly what was done to the engine, but it was rebuilt as a 360 horse power engine to handle the tri-power set up and it does run strong! I believe it to be the original block as it has a casting date of D165 or April 16 of '65 and a casting number of 9778788. The car was built in the second week of July. It has Ram Air as well as power steering and power disc brakes! The transmission is a Turbo 400 and shifts as it should and the rear end is a posi-traction. The car has been lowered slightly for a more desirable stance. The dual exhaust system is fairly new and it has Flowmaster mufflers for that mellow Muscle car sound that we all love! The front disc brake calipers help it stop on a dime and the tires are in good condition. It also has front and rear sway bars and handles great! While not necessarily a show car, it is an eye catching and fun driver that should be ready for many miles of cruising enjoyment! GTO's are some of the fastest appreciating and most desirable and sought after collector cars in the market today and now you can own a prime example that is ready for summertime cruising or show!
