General Description: Please understand that this is a used Jeep and it will be a fun project, or car to drive around town or great for a 2nd car. If you drive a long distance for work, or intend to go on road trips, this is probably not what you are looking for. It has nice features. 4 cyl. engine, standard shift transmission, Air Conditioning. Please read the description and look at the photos carefully. I have tried to capture all the good points and the bad points. Please look at the pictures on eBay and on Flickr. I even have uploaded a movie to Flickr of the Jeep running. I would not drive this vehicle home! The brakes need to be fixed prior to road operation. It is a great project jeep because it is solid and has low mileage.) Frame: I inspected the frame for holes and cracks and it appears solid but there is surface rust as shown in the pictures. Body and Paint: The body is solid but there is typical "Jeep Rust" as shown in the pictures. Please see the photos. (The Floor are all solid. Please see the pictures showing under the driver side mat. Only surface rust! No holes!) The rear floors are really good. Please notice that the gas tank skid plate is very rusty and will need to be replaced. The jeep appears to have had bodywork completed as shown below the passenger side door frame. It was filled with body filler and painted. When I pulled up the carpet to inspect the floors for rust, the filler cracked. I have shown the crack in the photos. Engine / Transmission / Axles: The Engine runs very good and starts up and runs excellent. It does not smoke or make any unusual noise or leak any fluids. The engine runs smooth and the transmission shifts smooth without any issues. The 4wd works and the axles appear to be in 100% working order. The engine does not knock or appear to have any major mechanical issues. Exhaust system: The exhaust system has a leak. I am not sure where, but exhaust systems for wranglers are extremely cheap! A complete cat back system is $186 on eBay. Steering and Suspension: Steering and suspension feel great. No issues detected when I drive it. Brakes: The jeep will need brake line repair. There must be a brake fluid leak. The pedal goes to the floor and gives minimum braking power. The e-brake works! Interior: The seats, and dashboard are in good condition. The carpets are in ok condition with minor stains and discoloration. There is no rear seat. There are a few minor trim pieces missing as shown in the photos. These parts can be found on eBay for less than $20! Top Condition: No top. (Complete tops can be found on eBay for less than $200 used) Other Items Available. I do have a Best Top hard top for sale that I will sell separately for $1750. It has a defroster. I will not negotiate the price of the Top, because I can use it for my other Jeep. It was over $2500 new but I don't drive my jeep in the winter, so I can use just my soft top. Payment: A $500 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction is required. I will only accept cash upon pickup for the vehicle. Final payment must be made within 7 days of the auction close. Pick Up: If the vehicle is not picked up within 7 days I will charge $10 per day for storage. I don't want to make a large profit. Just have a little fun. What value do I offer? I have owned over 20 Jeep Wrangler TJ's, so I know what to look for on them. I look at Jeeps logically, not emotionally. I review them for their typical problems. (Frame damage, severe rust, engine knocks, bad transmissions, transfer cases) "The big stuff". I have a 4 year engineering degree, so I have some formal education and I also like to fix things, so I have some hands on experience too. I usually buy low priced "projects" and offer them for sale online. I provide a service for people who want to sell a Jeep that may need work, and find a buyer who understands that the Jeep needs work. Please understand and respect that this is only a hobby for me and I will be honest and fair but I can not provide service like a dealership or manufacturer. Inspection Services: I can provide professional inspections on Jeeps for a fee. My inspections will cover similar information to what is provided on this auction. Service Advice: I have a full time job, so I do not have the time to fix vehicles. However, I can provide advice on where to take your Jeep for efficient and honest repairs. I will use a subcontractor to do all the mechanical work. I have developed relationships with many local mechanics in Buffalo, NY and I can save you money and headaches by avoiding the dealership and having your vehicle serviced by honest, experienced mechanics. Insurance and Financing: I can provide guidance on where to get your Jeep insured and I can also guide you to establishments for financing a Jeep. On Apr-07-11 at 09:22:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I borrowed a scan tool and checked the out the source of the check engine light. OBD II Code is P0301 or P0303 (Cylinder 1 and Cylinder 3 misfire). It is a low mileage Jeep and I would not suspect it is a major issue. Here is a possible explanation from a Jeep forum. "When I see the P0300 random misfire code along with a code for another cylinder, the first thing I do is to check fuel pressure with a gauge and compare your numbers to factory spec. A marginal fuel pump can cause this code. Fuel pressure should be ruled in or out early in this troubleshooting process and is easy to do with a gauge installed at the schrader valve on the fuel rail."
