I am offering for sale my 1996 Honda Prelude. I am the third owner and I have owned it for the last six years. It has been an excellent car and I have put off selling for about the last four years because I love the car so much. (I have two kids and the struggle to shuffle cars between the Prelude and my wife's Element when we need to take the kids anywhere has gotten to be a bigger burden than we want to bear.) I bought the car from a family in Florida about six years ago. It was all original and had not been modified or abused. It was mechanically sound but the paint was faded in places because of the high sun environment. I had the car PROFESSIONALLY painted when I purchased it and as you can see in the pictures, they did a phenomenal job, and after six years, it still looks great. The car's exterior is clean and only shows the normal chips and minor scratches that you would expect from a well cared for 6 year old paint job. I always keep the car clean, waxed, garaged and I would always park at the back of parking lots etc. One of the front turn signals has a chip in it and the sunroof does have some small spots of rust developing under the paint. I have included pictures for your review. The sunroof does operate as well. The interior is clean and was never smoked in from what I can tell. There are no rips in the seats and the carpet and floor mats are in great shape. On the passenger side door, there is a crack in the plastic piece surrounding the door controls. Not a big deal. You can see it in one of the pictures enclosed. The car runs very well. The heat works awesome, the AC is awesome. I have done some work to the car over the years as follows. It had a new radiator installed @ approx 105k. It has had a timing belt put on @ 125K, new clutch @ 125K, new radio and speakers at approx 125K, new front end (tie rods, cv joints, upper control arms) @ approx 170K, new starter @ approx 170K.) The exhaust and muffler are original and in excellent condition. I installed new plugs and plug wires at approx 170k as well. The window tint was redone @ approx 150k and is in excellent condition. The tires are in fair condition. I would estimate another 5,000 miles or so before replacing. This car is a 15 year old car with 173,000 so it is not a perfect car. It does have some issues that I will explain. The anti-lock brakes do NOT work on this car. The brakes work as a car without an anti-lock brake feature on it would perform. This was the case when I purchased the car at 100k miles and it never really caused me much concern and I have driven the car for the last 73k miles but I want to make you aware of all that I am aware of. The car leaks oil. The leak is not severe but more of an annoyance. I had placed cardboard in my garage to catch any drippings and I would have to add a little oil every several hundred miles. The car is in great shape overall. If I had a dollar for every time someone commented on it or stopped to talk about it, I wouldn't even need to sell it. I have set the reserve at a very reasonable price. I hate to see this car go. In fact, we just recently purchased a new car (4-door) and we have see-sawed back and forth about possibly keeping it as a third household car. Our limiting factor is just space.
