Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Fair body condition. Good condition mechanically. This vehicle belonged to my father, who recently passed. I say that only because there is a lot I don’t know about the car. I had not visited him at his place since he acquired it in 2003 so it’s largely unknown to me. I want to say that again for clarity: I do not know much about the overall background of the car. What I do know, some of which is important, I am not sure if I can prove due to lost records. Odometer reads about 45,000 miles, but it doesn’t record beyond 100,000. I cannot be sure of the precise mileage on the chassis. I do know that it has a factory-built 350 engine with approximately 15,000 miles on it, and was installed while my father owned the car (I think that’s an 8-cylinder, but my dad was the car guy, not me. Please correct me if I’m mistaken) I know the name of the auto shop where the 350 was installed, but I don’t know when it was installed. If it’s important to you to have info on that, I can try to obtain it, but cannot guarantee I can find it. Air conditioning is not working. Transmission mileage is unknown. It was his only automobile, and it runs well. He was retired since the late 90s, and he didn’t drive many miles. My father was an engineer in the California oil industry for the last 30 years of his work career. He took VERY good care of his machines. His 1981 canon camera is in pristine working condition, for example. My father could, and did, disassemble engines and put them back together. Very mechanically adept, very conscientious of routine maintenance and upkeep. He had many plans to improve the condition of the car. He never had the funds to do most of them. He had a love affair with the El Camino since the 70s, and had owned 2 others prior to this one. My point in saying this is that this might be a car that, despite minor body damage (pictured), has excellent internal components, and would be a good candidate for restoration. In any event, it does run well. Car is located in Phoenix AZ, while I am in Denver CO. Car is stored with friends. Car is NOT registered. Please contact me with any questions. Full payment expected with 7 days of auction by cash or cashier's check. Buyer is responsible for registration of vehicle and transportation of vehicle from Phoenix. Look for an update again on Monday 4/4 or thereafter. More pictures also coming. It was his only automobile, and it runs well. He was retired since the late 90s, and he didn’t drive many miles. On Apr-04-11 at 08:36:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Updated 4 April 11: Added pictures of interior including dashboard (no cracks under the dash cover), side doors, bed condition, upholstery (color this time). ENGINE AND CARBURETOR DETAILS: I spoke to the auto shop that installed the engine. Engine was installed in 2006. Engine in 2006 was a brand new, factory-built GM 350 out of the crate (long block). Car also has a Holley carburetor that engine installer fine-tuned and adjusted to get 20 mpg freeway mileage. Car installer said he used the adjustments made on dad's car to further adjust other El Caminos he sees to this day, and he remembers the specific details of the settings for that carburetor. Engine installer said I could put any SERIOUS buyer in touch with him for details on engine and carburetor. On Apr-06-11 at 10:41:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Updated 06 April: I've had several requests to see the vehicle, but no one who has asked has gotten back to me. The vehicle is available to be shown all day Thursday, 7 April. In order for me to release to you the address/phone number of the person in Phoenix storing the car for me, you MUST first supply to me your business address and telephone number, which I must be able to verify. This is a non-negotiable security issue for my contact in Phoenix. Thank you.
