Pontiac may have closed its doors, but their cars live on, and now you can own a piece of history. You are bidding on a 1964 Pontiac Catalina convertible. This is a great driver or you can finish the restoration and see a great return on your investment. I have owned this car since 1988, and have driven it across the U.S. twice. I was posted overseas in 1998, and since then the car has rarely been driven and has been garage kept by my father. After many years it is clear I won't be around enough to drive it, and my dad needs the garage space, so time to let her go. In 1996 (at 160,610 miles) the engine was rebuilt (so engine has less than 20,000 miles on it), the transmission gaskets and filter replaced, and the body was redone (rust removed and entire car repainted). Since then there have been a few other minor replacements (brakes and brake lining, steering wheel, points, tires, coil, fuel pump, etc). She needs a new canvas top, the interior needs to be redone (though good enough for a daily drive), and there are few very minor spots that are starting to show some rust (these are only visible if you search hard). This car is a head turner, and there is hardly a time out that it does not get a compliment. This car does not need much work to get it into show condition, and a few thousand dollar investment will have her in the $20,000+ area that prime Catalinas currently sell for. This car is a steal for less than $10,000, and there is no reserve. NADA guide estimates low retail value* at $12,600 and high value at more than $30,000.
