I'm selling a 1979 Ford F-150 Custom 4x4 that has a recent restoration, it was done frame off I have had 5 of these trucks as I like the particulr year and model and never seen a frame and truck this solid in the midwest for such a good price. Here the story behind the truck-- About a year ago I had shipped to me a 1979 Ford F150 Custom 4x4 working great 4speed manual,from WIS it was from a small farm town about 5 hours from me. I bought it because the body was one of the best I have seen, ive had 79's, and a 77 I know these trucks prety good.The history on the truck a Kid in WIS graduated High school his dad had a frame off restoration done,I mean frame off, Cab off and the Bed. The frame off was done in what i was told 1999 THE TRUCK THAN SAT 9 YEARS FROM 01-TILL I GOT IT,the frame is mint I took pictures its shiny black frame and the cab corners and box are great. The bed box no holes nice paint still. The only thing was the water sat in the lip of rear wheels on the quaters and they got rusty otherwise its really good (you can see in pictures). I ran the numbers the vin it was a straight 6 red truck made in Min and also a automatic also 4x4,so the previous owner switched from red to black,and auto to manual 4 speed. The truck the way I got is Black on Black 4 speed manual(with a granny 1st gear) with a 302 5.0 (40 k miles on eng and trans). Somebody during the restoration went through a lot of work to make this a manual you could never tell the linkage and shifting is perfect better than any old manual I driven. The motor after running is a rebuilt 302 5.0 out of a 81 f150. It has tons of power burns rubber if need be with ease great off the line. Has the 4 speed 1 is granny gear of course. It came with a aftermarket tailgate I took that to the scrap yard right away and bought a old one from Kentucky(a orig tailgate) its White(Solid some surface rust nothing can be fixed) but it came with the new Chrome Ford. I also bought sandblasted lower tailgate hinges and screws that have not been put on yet for the tailgate work right. The tailgate has some surface it needs sanded and painted but it a good tailgate I like solid steel only... Lets start with hood very solid nice paint has the FORD letters and not rusty GOOD HOOD 9 OUT 10. Both Fenders are mint 10 OUT OF 10,to the Doors there mint even the bottoms are good maybe a lil rust at the bottom normal(need door panels there shiny black at the moment). The bed box has no holes mostly shiny paint with some surface rust look at pictures. The bed sides are the only area need work just above the wheels as I said above. The under carriage is great the frame is shiny black from front to back. Fuel tank and under box are both 8 out of 10. Solid under carriage ask I can send pictures of whatever. Im into frames if the frames rusty to me i lose intrest,a Vehicle starts from the frame out this is solid!! The Truck When I got it had fuel problems(from sitting) and electrical it had sat 9 for years. So me and a certified master mechanic I payed him by the hour went through the whole truck. The fuel system, I had a friend rebuild the motorcraft carb but he being the master mechanic than redid it again than 2 new fuel filters than a new line going to the fuel pump. Also required a new mechanical fuel pump.. Than ran a air lance into the filler and flushed out the lines and put on other fuel filters before the fuel pump to catch whatever I missed this took about a week to get a good clean running truck. So rebuilt carb new filters 2 on there cleaned tank lines new fuel lines get the idea.. Electrical Start at the pickup coil was bad inside the distributor it was shot. Than new plugs wires cap etc.. New oil Pan gasket dropped the pan cleaned it new gasket. Back to the electrical pick up coil to the wires new electrical module, new ignition coil so much more done.. The truck starts right up. The radiator had 2 small leaks I took it a radiator shop he redid it and checked it and I put it back in.. Replaced the hoses and belts also why not.. New oil, radiator fluid etc.. The truck gone through its solid and runs great.The 4x4 pulls great and strong,good transfercase etc the 302 has 40k miles on it has to have a mild cam in it or something because it fast it goes lol.. New battery has cherry bomb exhaust so its sounds tough. The tranny shifts great never had any trouble.. Ive got a lot money in this I. I was going to make it a Urban Cowboy tribute truck like from the movie the one John Travolta drove in the movie, I was going to try and get a factory roll bar and lights and it would have looked the part. The only thing wrong with this truck is needs a brake line when I moved last fall the brakes went out on the way here,I parked it checked the master cylinder it was empty. the lines look good but anyway nothing major it got cold and I could not do it. Also needs a Front windshield the price by me at the shop was $150 with new gasket etc I was going to go to the yard and get one there easy to find and cheap and have a guy puT it in but the truck got to go asap. I ALSO HAVE 2 SET OF RIMS AND TIRES TO GO WITH THE TRUCK!! I HAVE 2 YOU TUBE VIDEOS OF THE TRUCK NOT ALLOWED ON HERE I CAN EMAIL THEM!! ALSO TRUCK NEEDS SEAT COVER CHROME AIR CLEANER I HAVE NEW RAIN X WIPERS IN BOX.. GREAT TRUCK!!
